I little pricy but it looks great and the music should be fantastic. Voorman has an interesting history, not only with the Beatles but also with the artists that he backed up in the studio and on stage. Timing is everything and he was there at the right time and place.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this here, and if I'm not I'll delete it. But I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in trading their Sunburst CT for my Blue one. I posted it in the classifieds, but I thought I would have a better chance here.

Thanks very much for the complement. I am ecstatic about this bass. I just bought it. A brand new prototype HCT500/5-sb Ltd. Ed. 'Stu Sutcliffe'. Hofner states that they plan to launch this new model either at NAMM or MusikMesse. This one was 1 of 8 made, 4 of which were shipped to the US. The other 3 may still be out there somewhere.

As a Contemporary it has the wood block, but because the body is full sized, it carries considerable resonance. I couldn't be happier and my next step is to find a case for it.

My left-handed Hofner Ignition arrived in the mail on Monday :hyper:

The bass comes from factory with roundwounds installed (yuck!), so I also ordered a set of Pyramid Gold flats, the same set I use on my P bass too, and I'm very happy with those, lovely old school tone and super smooth feel. With the Pyramid flats the Hofner has that 1960's sound I want, perfect for the Beatles and British invasion era songs (Animals, Hollies, Spencer Davis Group etc). It also nails perfectly the bass tones found in lots of 1960's French and Italian music (Serge Gainsbourg, Ennio Morricone etc).

EDIT: One funny thing with this bass, the pickup switches are wired backwards and they're reversed, too: when the switches are in the "ON" position the pickups are actually switched off, and the treble (bridge) pickup switch is connected to the neck (bass) pickup and vice versa. Weird. Maybe that's because this is a left-handed bass.. doesn't really matter as long as I remember how it's wired.

This is the normal thing in the Hofner basses with that panel. :)

For some reason that's just how they all are wired. Makes no sense to me! My husband jokes that maybe I should look at it upside down and ON is really NO. lol
I think it is supposed to mean that one or the other pickups is isolated. My icon actually came from the seller with an explanation of how the switches worked. The store probably got tired of having people call about the switches.
