Hey guys what kind of truss rod adjustment tool are you CT/Icon guys using? The neck of my bass has a slight bow in it and i want to straighten it out a little bit. any tips will help. I've tried a bunch of allen keys but they dont fit.

I have a plastic snack bag full of allen keys and one happened to fit...I just checked it against my machinsit rule and it looks like it's about 9/64" but it could be metric.

Weird where my rod adjusts, its completely round. It does't look to be stripped because its doesn't have any scarring in the metal or anything like that, that tends to happen when the metal is damaged. I'll take a look as see if I have a wrench that measures what you have and go from there. Thanks for getting back to me!

I've been following this thread for awhile and have had a CT violin bass for a couple years, using it occasionally at practices and a lot around home for fun. I just always wanted one. Well, last night, I gigged for the first time with it through my Ampeg SVT and it ROCKED! I'm not much of a joiner, but as soon as I can get a pic or two together (hopefully tonight), I'll upload and hopefully be the newest member. I wish I had a good recording from last night - I'd post that, too.

One more shot.

As mentioned earlier today, I gigged with this for the first time last weekend after owning it for two years, and I'm in love with it all over again. Hofner CT violin bass with Thomastik flats, played through an Ampeg SVT-CL and 410HLF (outdoors and supported by an excellent sound man).

Can I join? :hyper:

The Cush that is a very nice CT. I am glad that you finally decided to take it out to a gig. No more lurking, you are member 77.

They are thomastik infeld. I forget the brand but they are short scale strings for the Hofner.

I keep hearing that these are spongey as all get out. Ill have to do some searching on the Tube to get an idea of what they sound like.

Also regarding your Club bass, how heavy would you say it is? I've a friend who's interested in them, but is a big concerned about the weight. Thanks and Cheers.

I like the strings but I guess it depends on your taste. The bass is extremely light at about 5-6 lbs. I have a bathroom scale that's not the most accurate but it's somewhere between 5-6 lbs.

Oh that's not much heavier than the HCT 500/1. I think that weighs in at about the same. I'll let ,y buddy know. He's an older fella and he's always looking for something light and thumpy for blues. He's generally a Fender guy and there's nothing wrong with that but I'm trying to sway him to Hofner land.

Here's a call to you Hofner owners--post clips of your gig recordings. I am starting to think about gigging my dad's Ideal Hofner copy and would like to hear some viable examples. I was pretty impressed by Chris Wood recently. Also, any explanation of how the Hofner lineup breaks down (Icon, C-Series, etc.) would be helpful.

These instruments, like Rics, just have a sound all their own. The release profile of the ADSR seems really strong.

Josh I rarely play my Rics since I started playing my Hofner. The combination of slim neck, light weight, and that signature fat tone. There's really nothing like it. Its just awesome. I wish I had some videos or audio for you. My band is in the process of recording some stuff so I'll email you some clips when I get a chance.
