Horrible Stock Colors

Since we're kind of on the subject, can anyone tell me what the official darker red color name(s) were for the 2011 MIM standard P-bass? (somewhere in the light to medium Burgundy range.)

I'm guessing candy apple red based on the 2011 catalog. If not, maybe dakota red.

Antigua - booger burst

Quoting myself because I actually dont mind antigua. I would definitely play one. The shades are sort of boogeresque though.

Personally I dont care for gold or gold anodized guards.

The Metallic Forest on it's own is fine, it being combined with the red tort is what makes it so ugly imo. Red and green are opposites on the color wheel, and imo the most obnoxious pair of opposites there is. Changing the green to a much lighter shade can help to let the colors compliment each other, but bold green and bold red is just terrible. IMO.

This particular one has a White pickguard though.

As I said previously, different strokes. I suppose the Longhorn is "ugly", but that's part of why I like it. That, and it's light as a feather, very easy to play, and capable of producing a wide variety of tones. I don't need it to please anyone but me and it does a good job of that.

I had the same bass but handed it off to my grandaughter to learn on. Its a fantastic instrument and I like the blackburst finish. I had a couple of Jerry Jones Longhorns for a while and they were incredibly well made instruments. Right now I have a Greyburst Epiphone Jack Casady. I love the way it looks, but a lot of folks can't stand it. I will be taken posession of a Fireglo Ric 4003S in a few days. I happen to love Rics and the Fireglo is my favorite color they produce.

Antigua looks to me like a color from a fridge from 1971. Some like it but DAAAAAUUUMMM!!!!!

It's very hard for me to come across a bass (or guitar) with an ugly finish as I like 99% of all finishes. Antigua looks great; kinda reminds me of silverburst in a way, and I was considering dragonburst for a build until Carvin introduced their Nightburst and Aquaburst finishes.

I also find that certain basses look good under certain conditions, a good example being the Sahara Taupe P Bass posted earlier. With a white pickguard I can't help but think of it being called "baby crap brown." With a black pickguard it looks handsome.

I guess the colors I really do not like are Lake Placid Blue gloss (as supposed to metallic) and Fiesta Red gloss (again, as supposed to metallic or transparent). Probably because they've been done so many times and Fiesta Red looks like a faded normal red, like the instrument has been sitting out in the sun for many years.

I'm curious as to how Warwick created that rusty finish. My head says they used some sort of metal and actually rusted it (and then sealed it to prevent further rusting and possible injuries) but that sounds too farfetched.
