To make the wobbles more harmonically rich and complex, you should put some kind of bass distortion BEFORE the filter. No, you cannot use the distortion in your amp. The compressor in your amp can be helpful, as Jaibeau points out.

What kind of distortion?

It really needs to be one targeted for the bass. One very popular approach is to use our Multiwave Bass Distortion (also $119). You can hear clips of BEF/MWBD combination from us and many, many others all over YouTube. This distortion pedal has lots of different sounds that are fuzzy and synthy and make for a very nice match with the BEF. This may exceed your budget, but it is low risk.

The Multiwave is not the only option, however!! You can also use a Big Bass Muff, for instance. The price point is much lower, and many people prefer this tone to that of Multiwave. It is more of a "classic" tone. There are lots of bass distortion pedals out there at many price points, and you can read TB all day reading about them! It might be worth asking for the lowest cost distortion pedal which works well with the BEF.

Im more of a reader than writer here but I had to post now an just say:

Wow !

It really speaks for yourself, you tell someone he might be happier with a Big Muff or any other distortion, than he might be with the mwbd of your own (!) company. Hey guys I'm new here, I just bought the HH3 and on the manual it states that only 1 to 1.5 hours are needed to charge the device. I plugged it almost 2.5 hours ago and the led light is still blinking. is this common? I'm from peru so the current here is 220 volts.. does that have anything to do with that? I had the same problem when I bought the first hot hand that came out and expected that now with this one it wouldn't happen. Has any of you had the same issue? I really need help since here in peru its impossible to get a new one and I would need to wait until I travel to the states again....

Is the Hot Hand working properly when you take it off the charger?

Here's what I posted in his thread he started aout this:

sometimes mine 'turn on' while charging an that will make it blink making me think it's still changing, but its not. So that may be what's happening to ya.

I think it's a different blink rate for charging and searching, I'm sure Roger (or Will) will pop on here to clearify that

Yes, it must be stereo (TRS connector). It is an expression signal and almost all of them act that way (except Line 6)

I looked at the GT10B manual. The external expression input is designed to work with Roland's EV-5 expression pedal. The EV-5 is a very ordinary. Nothing strange. It works with all Source Audio products (Hot Hand Wah, Soundblox Pro, etc.). We have a number of EV-5 pedals in our lab, so we know it well. My advice: Get the GT10B set up correctly to use with an external expression pedal and test it using an external expression pedal (hopefully you can borrow it from a friend). This way you can debug that side of the problem. I see that page 22 and page 48 are the places where you will need to read about how to use this device with an external expression input. When you are confident that you have the GT10B working correctly, then add in the Hot Hand 3.
1) Standard DIP switch settings! The GT10B is very standard.
2) Calibrate. Put the ring down on a flat surface (see manual). This will ensure that the Hot Hand control range is maximum.

I am very confident that the Hot Hand 3 will work with the GT10B. If you have any more trouble, please send us a note at [email protected]. Have fun!

You'll need to thoroughly learn the Assigns. Going off memory:

* Turn the assign on (Enabled)
* Set the source (External Expression)
* Set the type to Momemtary (otherwise it'll just turn the effect on/off)
* Set the destination to whatever effect parameter you're trying to modulate
* Should be about it though you can adjust the range of the effect and all that jazz if you want

You might want to visit the GT-10B thread for help programming the GT-10B specifically. Lots of skilled users there.

thanks all good folks.
I have decided, and executed.....sold my GT10B.
Since the past few days, cos i have a busy and long hours work schedule and being not good at tweaking and as i just want to feel the HH3 effect ....that is my best solution.
now i will just need to source out a pedal for my HH3.will be doing that during lunchtime later. think i am getting myself closer to get the wobble effect happening!

No it wasn't u, I didn't mention that. Thanks! In Singapore it's 1.32am now.Can't wait for later... Bring my bass and the hot Hand3 to my local distributor tymc.

Think I will go for the sa pro envelope and the sa bass distortion. Will ask their crew help calibrate etc... Really looking forward to this haha

Like a small kid getting his toy later..

First, thanks for buying one and I'm sorry that you're having an issue with the design.

You raise a good point that a way should be provided to power the receiver from a standard type pedal board supply.

There are a few things to keep in mind for you and some other users out there:
1. The power adapter is only necessary when using the expression output. When you are using the sensor output, the HH3 receiver is powered through the sensor jack from a Soundblox or Hot Hand pedal. The expression output needs the 5 Volts to work properly.
2. Don't try to use a plug adapter to go from 9V down to the 5 Volts needed on the receiver. This will likely damage the receiver.
3. In terms of the design, using a pedal board supply to directly power the receiver can be potentially problematic since the receiver can send noise "upstream" to the supply. We have a special way of preventing this on our pedals. A separate power supply is the best means of isolation.
4. In case you do need a second supply, we have them available on our online store for short money.

Back to your point, we should be able to solve this issue with a small adapter that we can make as an accessory. Basically it would be a 9V to 5V converter that provides some isolation. I'll get to work on making that happen.
By the way, which board supply are you using?

Last thing, it can be hard to anticipate all of the needs of all of the users out there until you get a product out in the field. So I greatly appreciate customer feedback that we can use to make our products better.

Did this ever get resolved? I just got one and would like to plug it into my voodoo labs Power Plus 2 rather than using the adapter. Please let us know a solution!

Addressed, yes. Resolved, no. :)
I just started putting together some prototypes and I'm planning on making a small number of "production" units to start. I say production lightly since they will be hand assembled and might still be a bit hacky but they will work!

So it will have a 5.5mm on one side for connecting to the 9V jacks on the PP2 (or similar units) and it has the small 3.5mm plug on the other side with 5V output for powering the ring or the receiver.

I'll keep Roger informed and he will let you guys know when they are ready.
