Hot! Hot! Hot!

All good buddy.
Yes, we're in for some temps in the 100's for the next few days which is highly unusual for this area. The wife and I have made several phone calls, text messages, and visits on some older friends of ours who do not have luxuries in life like AC (in the PNW AC is a luxury for many) to make sure they will be able to stay cool and refreshed during the peak of the heat. We delivered some bottled water, box fans, and helped a few of them get their portable AC units hooked up properly while showing them how to drain the pan that collects water while it is running.
The cities and county are arranging to open cooling centers where people can go to cool off, and the local shopping mall is encouraging people to come in and walk around to cool off. My worry with the cooling centers is they will get overrun by homeless people and tweakers. Sure, those folks need to be cool too, but I'm not going to say anymore.
We live about a half mile from the water, so the saltwater breezes help us stay cool when we sit out back in our chairs under the awning and listen to the birds while sipping on a icy cold beverage. We have a plan, and we have AC if we need to go inside. :D
It will be an interesting few days in the Puget Sound.

Where are you guys???? I had an office day yesterday and had my office doors and windows open all day. It topped out in the 70s and was bone dry. And Eastern NC where I live is usually pretty balmy. We're kind of known for our heat and humidity combined.

I'm in Seattle, and we're not used to this, especially in JUNE. I sincerely hope this isn't any indication of what the rest of summer is going to be like. Supposedly there is a threat of thunderstorms plus dry lightning. Fire season could be brutal this year.

Fire season started a month ago here in the Gorge, plenty of visible smoke at sunrise this morning. We're more used to hot weather down here, but not 100+ for a week and lows in the upper 70s at night. Oregon is in a deep drought too, no bueno.

I've enjoyed plenty of post-apocalypse movies, never thought I'd be alive during the beginning of one. :chicken:

Moved to the Tri-Valley area east of San Francisco. Last week we had a couple of unusually hot days where it was 100+ outside. The day I took my grandson to a water park it topped out at 108. I just made sure I stayed wet all day and stayed in the shade.
Mostly it has been in the 70's to mid 80's. That is a huge change from San Francisco. Really loving the warm weather when it is not too hot. Mid 80's is my sweet spot.

I'm in Orting, and I just heard from the local news that it is going up to 110 by Monday, and Shannon (KOMO weather) said this type of heating has never happened before. I'm really worried about my old dog - she was getting too hot today, and I kept her in by the portable air conditioner ... same with the cat, but 20 degrees more is coming. I'm thinking I should spray her down with the hose throughout the day.

We don't have animals, but our garden, trees, and flowers are going to suffer even if we water everything. We will be putting out water for the birds.

No brainer news - last night they said there were no available air conditioners left for sale statewide. Probably the same in OR, and NoCal. I raced off to Lowes early this morning, and picked up a nifty blower fan that's working well alongside my portable air conditioner. They had 27 in stock - now they're all gone.

NOAA has been persistently showing 107 as the predicted high Sunday. Everyone else has been saying 112-113. NOAA is now saying 111.

Edit: Apparently the all-time record high in Eugene is 108. That record is almost sure to be broken Sunday.
