How many amps do you guys own?

I’ve had five rigs since 1986. I love my current amp: GK 700RB-II into a Dr. Bass 1x15” cab. I would love to get a second matching cab. Maybe someday I’ll retire the one I have and buy 2 15” cabs from a reputable builder, instead.

Do it. A 700RBii into a pair of single fifteens is a gigging bassist’s club rig sweet spot. I’m good everywhere from bars to medium sized unsupported outdoor shows and all in between

If memory serves, I have a perfect Spinal Tap eleven:

• Peavey TNT 100 (1x15 combo)
• Peavey Series 400 (Peavey 2x15 cab refitted with JBLs, literally sawed into two separate cabs for portability)
• Ampeg V4B (through the same 2x15)
• Fender BXR 300C (1x15 300w combo, very heavy cab, removed head to use with the Peavey pair of 15s)
• SWR SM-400 (Hartke 410XL cab, Avatar B210 4 ohm cab, Avatar B212 4 ohm cab, Eden D210XLT cab, probably played through the SM-400/B210 combo the longest)
  
• Ampeg SVT-II (various speaker combos)
• Ampeg V4B (various speaker combos)
• Markbass CMD-121P (1x12 300w combo)
• Markbass MicroMark (1x8 45w combo)

Currently, I have only the MicroMark, MiniMark, and the Avatar B210 cab. I haven't played a gig that required a bigger amp for a few years now. If I do get into a band that requires a bigger amp (unlikely), I'll probably get another CMD-121P or just get a GK800RB head to go with the Avatar cab.

In our current practice space, I play through a GK800RB and a Fender 2x12 cab (not mine), and it sounds good enough. In fact, I played through an Ampeg SCR-DI into that rig and it got a really deep SVT/V4B sound. I'd consider trying that rig. I found that I don't get that sound through the smaller speakers in the Markbass rigs, so I'd be curious to try that input with a bigger (12 or 15 cabs) for my "big rig".

I had a crappy Sears amp that someone threw out, fixed it at school, left it there in a music room. Bought an Acoustic 104? 100 watt head, new, a Fender Dual Showman 215 with SROs(wish I still had the cab) A Peavey Century Bass? with a 215 cab(again, wish I still had the cab) A bigger Peavey head, markIV?, A GK 800Rb on top of a Cerwin Vega B-36MF(Monster, wish I still had both) Realized that from 20 feet away, it was just thump after all, so I sold the big rig and bought a Peavey TNT130 used, then another to make a neato stack. Then a Fender BXR300C combo(still have it, always will). I set up a scary looking gig rig with Ampeg SVT15E and a 410HE with am Ampeg B2R head, Traded the B2R and the 410, bought another 15E and a PF350. Still have those, Saving for a Subway 800+,,will keep the PF350 under the seat, just in case. Three of the heads were bought new,everything else used. After the Mesa, I won't even be looking at amps anymore. The Ampeg is okay, makes noise and all, but it sounds lifeless, like someone squeezing potatoes. The cabs sound very nice when powered by the Fender amp.

Owned 5 - Acoustic 136, Acoustic 370 with an SVT bottom, Peavey Combo 115, Ampeg BA-210, and my current one, F Rumble 500. Been slowly going down in the weight department over the years! I'm attaching a snap of my very first one, the Acoustic 136. Worked my ass off in the summer of 1974 as a lifeguard to but it, $499.00.
It was a workhorse of an amp, 2 independent channels which was cool, but a bit underpowered at 110 watts RMS. It did have an extension out, which helped. Best used for practice, that's why I moved up to the bigger rig. But

over time, had to scale down, especially when I went to out of state grad school. Yeah, that's my Roland Juno 106 on top!!

Since 1970... six. I know, not a lot, but the Peavey Mk IV I bought new in 1979 wouldn't die. It was my only amp until 2009. A good run for sure.

Well over 50 amps. Most people have way more audio amplifiers than they realize.

Maybe you should have specified musical instrument amps. Pedals have amplifier stages in them. Active basses have them. So does recording equipment. There are amps in car radios, home audio systems, computers, some headphones, portable digital players, phones, pads, TV's, etc.

The list is extensive when you start thinking about it.

I started with a GK 4x10 cab (which I hated) powered a Peavey Mark IV (which I loved and wish I still had).
traded it all in for an SWR 350 (the old red faced one) and an Ampeg 8x8 cab (which I ended up hating)
traded the cab in for an Eden 410XLT (which I loved and still have, but not for long it's too big and heavy)
sold the SWR and got an Eden World Tour 600 head (love, still own, but also too heavy).
and I've had a Fender Bassman 25 practice amp for close to 20 years.
