Fender MIM jazz 5 deluxe
Fender MIM standard jazz 4 string
Squier Affinity p-bass 4 string (project bass)

Dean 5 string ABG upgraded with a Fishman system
Old 6 string dreadnaught guitar converted into a bass (my "campground" bass)

Reggie Hamilton Standard Jazz

Guess I like Jazz basses. All are tuned in fifths. Two are tuned CGDA the Deluxe Active is "baritone tuned", GDAE, right now as an experiment.

Way back when....times were good......and I owned 16 bass guitars. (I wish I had known THEN what I know NOW about the value of them!)

Fast-forward 30 years and now I own just 4 bass guitars. I am so envious of you guys who own a bunch of bass guitars!!!

My lastest aquisition brings me up to five.

2011 Fender 60th Anniversary precision - I can't put into words how much I enjoy this bass. The feel the sound and the look really do it for me. I'll own it for the rest of my life.

1972 Fender Telecaster bass - This belonged to a bassist that I played drums with on and off for thirty or so years. I was with him in 1975 when he bought it from the original owner. He played it exclusively until about 1997 when he bought an American Jazz. I always loved this bass. I saw him a couple of months ago. He isn't playing in bands anymore and decided to thin the herd. He offered the Tele to me since he knew how much I loved it and that I have become a more serious bassist. I picked it up this past week and it's a keeper.

2005 Schecter C-4 XXX - What can I say, the inlays on the neck amuse me. I joke that it's the only way that I can touch strippers and not get in trouble. Seriously though, I like the way that it plays, feels and sounds. All of my other basses are some type of P variant, this is my only active bass and is my only one with a rosewood fingerboard. I enjoy it for being different. I don't know that I'll own it forever, but right now it fits my need for something "different".

An early 1990's Peavey Fury - When I started getting serious about bass I went through a series of inexpensive basses to figure out what I liked. This bass cemented my love of maple necks and the simpicity of a P type bass. I bought this for next to nothing and it's not fancy, but it's a good player. These days it sits on a stand in our guest room. When I'm upstairs in our office and get the desire to play I either sit in the guest room and noodle on it or bring it into the office. I play it just about every day and it fits perfectly the role that I'm using it for.

2010 Squier Vintage Modified Precision TB - Frankly, I bought this because I've always had a thing for Telecaster basses and this was as close as I thought that I'd ever get to owning one. It plays great and sounds amazing for what I paid for it. A bassist in one of the bands that I play with always seems to grab this one to play when we practice at my place. However, now I own a real Telecaster bass which makes this one sort of redundent. I listed it on my local CL and will get it into someone else's hands.

Do I have a wish list? Of course I do. I've love to pick up a Jazz bass. I'll save my money and wait for "the right one", I'll probably go for an American Standard. A Rickenbacker has always interested me, although I haven't played one enough to know if it is really right for me. If I decide to get another active bass, I'd like to try a Musicman Stingray. Right now the Schecter is the only active bass that I need, but that could change.

Up to 4.5 now.

Ibanez SR400
Fender MIM Precision Deluxe (currently in the shop - deciding if I want to have the pre-amp removed)
Franken P - (74' Precision Body, Allparts Neck, 62' Reissue Electronics)
Franken J - (MIM Jazz Neck, StewMac Body, SD SJB1 Pickups)

And the .5 is my MIJ/CIJ Project Build - CIJ Body, US 62' RI pickups - waiting on a neck, and needs tuners.

I've just adjusted my current lineup, leaving me at 5. Here goes:

Alembic Europa 5 string w/ Series I Electronics
Modulus Quantum 6 string
G&L L-2500 Fretless
Fender Marcus Miller 5 string w/ John East Marcus Retro Preamp
Rickenbacker 4003 Midnight Blue

I'm very happy with each bass.

Prior to the Jan 11, 2011 Qld Floods I had in my posession 29 bass guitars and two six slingers. My father was a studio musician and he loved basses. He firmly believed you should never sell an instrument. So he kept everything he bought. Over the years he downsized from a big family house to a smaller post family house and finally to a retirement unit. As he did so, he gave me the bulk of the basses and I hung them proudly on the walls of my studio at home.
After the Jan 11, 2011 Qld Floods my collection reduced dramtically from 29 to 14.
14 were stolen by theives - according to the police they must have swam into our house and taken them sometime duing the first five days. They left the cases behind.
3 were saved because they were on loan to friends.
3 more were saved because my wife had the brains to grab the three guitar cases from under the bed and move them to higher ground. Not enough time to save the rest.
1 was in at the luthers being refitted with SD Qtr Pounders, so it was saved.
1 was with me at the time (I was working in another state)
and 7 were recovered from the flood water. The police were guessing the theives were stealing the basses one at a time and they ran out of time. Only 1 out of the seven recovered from the flood waters was salvaged - my 63 Gibson T-Bird. Of the 15 stolen 1 has been recovered. The new owner took it into my luther to get a set up done and my luther recognised the serial number. My insurance company has refused to cover the losses because my flood isurance did not cover that type of flood. Our plight was featured on a local TV program and the police recovered two more basses. I'd love to show you guys the photos but the water destroyed all our computers, laptops, photo albums, painting, wall pictures, everything. What the water didn't destroy the 18 inches of river mud destroyed when the water subsided. Then the sun baked the mud. To this day I cant go near the river when the tide is out because of the memory of that smell. Every now and then someone posts a pic of me with one of the basses on facebook and that makes me smile. My mates from school all bandied together and bought me a new bass which was presented at our 30th year reunion. Kindness of others can never be discounted.
