Just cover the amp with a bed sheet. Anything they won't want to sharpen their claws on. My amps are all tiles, wither the vinyl covers. Cat ignores it completely.

I think there may be another way to look at this. What is motivating your cat to scratch? Do you have a scratching post for your cat? They are marking their territory when they scratch on things. Give them something better to scratch and they will forget about your cabinet.

They make spray stuff that tastes like bitter crap that is supposed to keep them from messing with stuff. My late cat was a cord chewer. Never did seem to affect her, but 2 years after she passed, I still end up with a bitter taste in my mouth an hour or so after messing with my instrument cables - however long it takes me to get my hands near my face again. When she was a kitten, should would climb into my Avatar B115 cabinet through the tuning slot.

I've had success with lemon balm (Melissa Officinalis) leaves/oil (fresh leaves more effective ime) and aluminum foil. Both are safe and non-toxic.

Go find a metal garbage can. take the bottom out and shape it into a rectangle, then put that over your rig.
Cats also hate to walk on aluminum foil, so I suppose you could make a foil "moat" for your cabinet..

Actually current archaeological evidence points to cats having decided to live near humans around the time we domesticated wheat. We were thereafter able to keep food in storage, which rodents greatly enjoyed, and this kept a steady supply of live food for cats. They basically domesticated themselves.

My amps and speakers have vinyl faux-leather padded covers, from a UK company called HotCovers. I trim the cats' claws regularly, usually while they are asleep as they are total lap cats.

I wonder if cats developed a gluten allergy from nibbling on wheat stuffed mice? As far as cat proof amp covering maybe you could consider kevlar. Or maybe some inexpensive smooth plastic sheeting like the flexible
cutting boards you may have in your kitchen. I don't have cats, but my mind says that they would get frustrated when their little cat claws wont bite into the plastic. Just put a scratching post sprayed with kitty dope (catnip) right next to the plastic covered amp.

I have had covers made from a local company called Invalid Link Removed and they work well. I think they're made out of vinyl or something similar. If you're in the US, the exchange rate is really attractive right now and will offset some of the shipping costs.
