HPF/LPF list- which do you use or know about?

At this point would be good to have a list of known pedals, heads and other stuff named here to help people to choose (me included). Also all these artifacts work different so there are options without going massy( Berhinger-Boss path someone mentioned). Do you @Stumbo as the OP want to do that list? Maybe in the openning post. Thanks.

Include a link if you can.

Also, please include:
1) Configuration: bass built in, pedal, rack unit, amp/preamp built in, multi-effects

I've been using one or another for upwards of 30 years, including:

Ancient BGW rack crossover.

Ashly BP-41 bass preamp.

Acoustic Image Focus I Series III amp.

Rane RPM-26z speaker controller.

Orban 642B parametric EQ.

Symetrix 551E parametric EQ.

Lexicon MPX550 multi EFX.

Various mixing boards.

Various QSC PLX and PLX2 power amps.

MiniDSP 2x4 digital EQ/crossover.

SpeakerPower SP1-1000 plate amp (DSP based, a bear to program).

And then for the last few years one or another variation on this DIY amp format: A DIY 500 Watt Bass Head

Edit: all of these were/are used for HPF, very few for LPF (mainly for EFX if anything), although several have that function available. Once in a very great while I use this in pedal format for a variable LPF: The Passinwind Open Source Preamp . I did have one of these in one of my basses for a little while as well. It's familial to the Alembic, Wal, and AC Guitars/East ones, more or less.

Fender BXR300C head contained an HPF.
The filter slope started about 63hz. That might be worth noting.

It might also be worth listing heads which are known not to contain HPF. My Markbass Littlemark 250 blackline doesn't appear to.
[Added later, Markbass confirmed in a message to me that it doesn't contain an HPF.]

Alembic LPF, built in the most basses from them. My Essence 4 strings has the "essence" of these unique electronics: vol-pan-LPF. This allows the player to dial in a different way the tone from the bass. It works on the range 350 Hz - 6 kHz. Also, the cutting freq. set on the LPF pot is gained by 6 dB. Interested in purchasing the DIY kit Vöng Filterung from german Schalltechnik 04, as it is HPF-LPF adjustable in a pedal, aside other cool features.

The Drive control on my ToneHammer500 head is an adjustable hpf/lpf. It intereacts somehow with Gain but its primary function is rolling off the highs and lows and then adding a mid bump. Not an OD and I don't know why they ladled it Drive but it works well. I usually adjust the Drive before adjusting other eq.

My Radial BassBone OD has a two stage selectable HPF built into to both channels. You can select off, 80hz or 150hz. I primarily use this on my upright at 80hz to filter out any low resonances coming from the piezo at the beginning of my signal chain. Several of their other products include this feature.

Finally I use a Broughton HPF/LPF at the end of my board and before my amp. I bought this primarily to tame my Octave.I usually turn the LPF down slightly, maybe 5-10khz and adjust the HPF slightly, maybe 40-80hz depending on the room.

I think three HPF's (and two LPF's) are sufficient:) Actually they all work slightly differently and definitely have a place.

I think a lot of small combos have one built in to (try to) keep users from blowing them up. I had a Rumble 100 v3 combo that definitely appeared to have the low end rolled off aggressively where my Rumble 150v2 head does not seem to have one.

I was under the impression that most modern bass heads have a fixed HPF already built in, although the manuals may not include this info. I believe that I first read this on TB, from Agedhorse, who stated that the Shuttle heads all had a built in, fixed , HPF, as did many others. Maybe he could speak to this, and also the factors of adding an outboard HPF to a bass head that already has a fixed HPF, which I believe he called " cascading ".

Any time hp filters are cascaded, and the corner frequency is within say 1/2 octave of each other, the effective corner frequency will increase. How much depends on the slope and alignment of the filters.
 
The first in my chain is my bass' preamp itself! My StingRay 5 3-band preamp has a 60Hz HPF built right in.

See below, and see if you can pick out which line is the 3-band SR5 preamp in each of the first three charts below without looking at the legend! ;)

Since I went through the trouble of measuring I can as well post it here.

This is all done with pink noise. I had separate runs with sweeping sine and sweeping square but as expected, these linear distortion units (aka equalizers) don't behave differently for that than for pink noise.

Note that the red line is always the reference pink noise, the original signal.

Preamps in use:
  • Seymour Duncan's 3-band bass preamp
  • Music Man's bongo 4-band
  • Music Man's 3-band as found in a 2000 non-classic stingray
  • Music Man's 2-band as found in 2011 Stingray Classic 5

Hmm, as I noted above, my bass apparently has an HPF built in at 60Hz, as does my GK 1001RB-ii preamp in 4-string mode (also 60Hz). My original thought was, why not use the 4-string mode as the roll-off is already 60Hz from my bass, so shouldn't make a noticeable difference, right?

In actuality I found that it wasn't so cut and dry; there was something going on that I couldn't quite put my finger on that I didn't care for as much with both of them combined.

If I'm understanding what you're saying, stacking the two likely increased the end corner frequency, likely bringing it above 60Hz? I guess that could have done it...

Color me shocked - I had no idea the Genz Shuttle 6.2 amp head had an HPF built in. Fixed frequency always on?

6) The unit is incredibly well-made. It is incredibly inexpensive. It is incredibly easy to use. It is more effective than I could have imagined. It does what its fans here say it does. It tightens up your low end. It does NOT "thin out" your sound (unless you crank the knob way too high anyway). If you're a sceptic (like I was) the $70 version made by a guy with a great reputation like @Azure Skies is a can't lose choice.
