HPF/LPF list- which do you use or know about?

IMG_0520.JPG
I caught the bug and got the Broughton HPF/LPF combo pedal. It is extremely helpful dialing in my sound under any conditions. It's intuitive not technical for me, I use my ears and adjust accordingly.

I use a Gk MB 500 for most gigs, but I get all kinds of backlines, and most don't have an hpf built in. I'm super happy with the results and the product.

The Genzler Magellan amps are high passed.

From Mr Genzler.
The "knee" of the HPF is just under 30 Hz so if you mention "cut-off" frequency it is below that. This is a 24 dB slope so it does roll off pretty quickly. If you wanted to use a higher HPF setting you could continue to use your Broughton. We do offer settings on the amp which offer a higher HPF setting. By that when you use the DRIVE channel, it offers a higher setting and the higher you set the GAIN control the more it does slightly roll up the HPF network. This setting also lowers the overall top end so that if your using more overdrive it stays smooth and tight without flubby low end and fuzzy top end. As well when using our Contour B (amber) this does set a higher HPF setting. I hope this info is useful.

the HPF is the same in MG 350 and MG 800. The "knee" of that circuit is approx 30 Hz and does roll off at a steep 24dB/octave.

Is it in the preamp or? If I bypass the preamp and use an external preamp into the effects loops return, is the HPF bypassed? What’s the frequency? Many thanks in advance.
Yes, it's part of the preamp. The power amp input is not high passed, so be careful when using with a preamp that does not have a high pass filter.

By request:

Include a link if you can.

Also, please include:
1) Configuration: bass built in, pedal, amp/preamp built in, multi-effects
2) adjustable, fixed, both, frequency, slope
3) how long you've been using it
4) if you've used other units in the past
5) if you know of any other HPF/LPFs
6) other info you deem important
7) Considering a purchase? Which
one(s)?
8) Have one on order. Which one(s)?
9) If your amp does NOT have one built in would be very useful info too!
10) TB member-builder roll call

After all the info is posted, I'll update the HPF OP and Wiki with a list.

If you're new to the topic, please read High Pass Filter (HPF) and Low Pass Filter (LPF) Mega Thread

Thanks in advance.
f deck V3 here with 62 P bass and GK MB500 with bag end 12/15 cabs and epifani UL212 also use keely bassist compressor in front of the hpf

Just ordered a Broughton Always On a few days ago. I'm using a back line amp now (Ampeg BA210) that's extremely boomy in the room we're in and I need it badly.
The bass I'm playing has Alembic PJ Activators that help some but by the time I get the boom under control I've killed my tone.
My personal "go to" amp is a GK700RB/112 combo that has the 4/5 button and enough EQ control of its own that I don't have any trouble finding a sweet spot.

Great topic, keep it coming.

Generally put it near the input of the pedalboard.

Really? Like right after my tuner? I would have thought otherwise. Like what if my effects add back in a boatload of low frequencies that I don't want? Or what if the HPF signal doesn't trigger my effects in the same way it used to? Maybe I'm worried for nothing?

The Effects Forum can give you practical applications and setups with HPF/LPFs and interaction between/among effects.

Generally it's beneficial, assuming the input impedance is high enough (~1M)

I've been using one or another for upwards of 30 years, including:

Ancient BGW rack crossover.

Ashly BP-41 bass preamp.

Acoustic Image Focus I Series III amp.

Rane RPM-26z speaker controller.

Orban 642B parametric EQ.

Symetrix 551E parametric EQ.

Lexicon MPX550 multi EFX.

Various mixing boards.

Various QSC PLX and PLX2 power amps.

MiniDSP 2x4 digital EQ/crossover.

SpeakerPower SP1-1000 plate amp (DSP based, a bear to program).

And then for the last few years one or another variation on this DIY amp format: A DIY 500 Watt Bass Head

Edit: all of these were/are used for HPF, very few for LPF (mainly for EFX if anything), although several have that function available. Once in a very great while I use this in pedal format for a variable LPF: The Passinwind Open Source Preamp . I did have one of these in one of my basses for a little while as well. It's familial to the Alembic, Wal, and AC Guitars/East ones, more or less.
It was only a handful of months ago, after buying my Mesa D800+, that I had my "aha moment", and realized I could use my BP-41 as a HPF. I already loved that preamp, and now I love it more because I can use it that way.
