I had to do it!! (Iceman Content)

The ferrule neck joint is complete. Notice the center ones are angled to go around the trussrod. I still need to do some minor sanding around the holes but that will happen right before the finish is applied. It's ROCK solid!! :bassist:

The $17 "counterbore" from Stew Mack is actually just a common Forshner bit. It's all but useless for as an actual counterbore as the tip is way to short to center itself in the screw clearance holes. It's even more useless with the agled heal on the body and my two angled holes. I used it anyway but could have just used and endmill I already have. I had to eyeball each hole on location under the bit and clamp the body down. Not a big deal but a counterbore this tool is NOT :spit:

so would any of these color schemes :)

Looks sweet. I always liked the Iceman body style, but after 3 non-musicians friends in a row said that the lower horn looks like a #$% (ahem, like a phallic symbol) I never had the confidence to buy one.

I don't think I've ever seen a non-solid Iceman. Should be rad.

Then you've never played a Warwick Corvette :p

Every damn day. "Hey Noah, nice dick. Oh wait, that's your bass."

If you're gunna be poking things with your headstock anyway, may as well cause some damage an make the headstock like (forgive me for mentioning a guitar >.>) the KxK WarriorV headstock. You'll never see a more dangerous looking headstock, it's simply not possible, lol.

That V is like a stretched out version of the V bass I'm building. Only mine has a different headstock and what not. Just the general shape and neck through. Though mine is a faux neck through.

Shameless plug aside, that looks like it'll be a sweet Iceman!

I would have to put a trans-something finish on it, but that is purely IMO.

I know that with using my friends equipment and booth, I can lay down a nice semigloss or matte clear. He shoots dashboards and truck bed wood for hotrods with it. It goes on thin like Nitro and it's easy to apply. If I had any skills for applying a trans or burst, I would consider it but I do not :) I'm going with what works!! I could have him do some nice pinstriping but I don't think that would work this. Maybe on a Tele Bass :D

Absolutely killer idea and execution! After Warmoth started to offer their Iceman body in a 5-string version and seeing how likely some of the "In Stock" finishes have turned out, I've been seriously considering adding a 5-string to my ever-expanding list of "Future Custom Basses" ( :smug: ) as "Pickstyle \m/etal Bass". Either of these finishes ("Black Cherry" or "Radiant") would look absolutely amazing...

My Son is a geetarist but often ends up playing bass with his band buddies. He's been hinting around about a serious 5 string for his metal style music. I might build another Iceman or maybe an explorer, proably a single MM pickup.

Here's some progress photos. With the way the tuner holes were drilled, there was no WAY I could make the standard Iceman headstock shape look right. What I did, hopefully flows with the rest of the body. I'll put some sort of logo in that open area above the tuners :)

The neck is finished, the body is still sucking up the spray on finish. It has about 20 coats, and 5 light sandings in between. One more day of spraying and I'll be buidling. The heated paintroom is a blessing :)
