I really just don't like Fenders!

Agreed - during the big Warwick crazy of... 10 years ago?... I tried and tried to like them... but those gigantic neck! Ick ick ick!

anyway, this post amuses me since I just picked up a 2nd hand fender - the first fender I've owned in about 10 years!

Haha, I'm glad people have a good sense of humor as my post was due in part to extreme boredom and the constant question of "why don't you have a Fender?" :)

Yes, my psychological examination is scheduled later today and a history of Leo Fender has already been given to me as part of my rehabilitation :)

And to the person who asked if I was a Human Base owner, yes, I am.

I once got that question thrown at me years - "Why don't you play a fender" - this was at an outdoor gig, many folks... I was playing a Lakland 44-94... I just smiled and told the gal I couldn't afford one...

But so many basses try to be like Fenders "but better" - doesn't that make it hard to find a bass you DO like?

So you don't like Fender basses.That's fine. I got away from Fender back in the mid 70's and came back to them in the 90's. I love what my humble little arsenal of a P and two J's do for me musically. As for some folks not liking them, as they don't feel comfortable with any Fender bass that's what freedom of choice and being an individual person is about.

The lead guitarist in my band is a bonafide Gibson guy who loves the sound of a good Strat, but everytime he buys a nice Strat he sells it off in about months time. I told him to accept that he's always going to be a Gibson player and to not feel guilty for not getting along with any Fender guitar he's bought and tried to make work for him. I'm happy we live in a world as musicians where we have a tremendous amount of alternatives and options to choose from when it comes to instruments.

I have to get this off my chest =sob= I don't like Fender guitars.:crying:

I like Fender basses.:D

I don't know if I would like Leo Fender or not. He was kind of cranky, even if he did start the electric bass explosion practically single-handedly (and don't rant about his predecessors: who's ever seen one, or heard one, or known of anyone who played one?):hmm:

But gosh-darn-it, I just don't like Fender guitars. Maybe it was my momma's attitude that turned me against them, or maybe it would have been if she had known about Fender guitars and had had an attitude toward them.:rollno:

I just don't know.

I don't like the look of fenders but the other day I got to try the geddy bass;
And it was not bad at all.

I would get one but I don't use 4 strings much; so I’ll be sitting around.

I read somewhere about Leo fender how he went from fender to music man and after to G&L and apparently G&L was his best work.

How come fenders are mush more popular than G&L?

I’ve never played one BTW

Just curious.
