The only person that I care about what bass they play and if its cheap or expensive is me, because I'm the one who had to pay the dollars and I'm the one who has to stand on stage with it.

You know, if Fender charges too much for a bass or a guitar, I'm sure that the general public will let Fender know by not buying it.

The Fender corporation can put a bass in your hands - new - for any where between $125 and $4000+. Your choice.

That's a pretty stupid comment - IMO, Duff's bass work in GNR was pretty good...

Wait, you can get an SX for $99. Those $125 Squiers are a total rip off, man! Fender is CRAZY!

You know my bass is better than your bass cause it costs allot and cheap basses are just cheap basses even if they play and sound as good as that expensive bass you really inside knew you did not need but spent the money on anyhow just to look cool and really make yourself think that this bass sounds great to everybody although only you can hear it.......... thread...
Keep polishing those turds - I'm sure the 10 drunks at the local watering holes you typically play at are impressed by them

I thought it was pretty obvious. But I'll spell it out for you.
It seems like people who are making such heated arguments for either side seem to be a little insecure to me. Their choice can't just be "their" choice it needs to be the "right" choice. So they argue and debase the opposite side in order to validate the instrument they chose.
To me, if someone is THAT concerned with what other people think when it comes to something as superficial as the type of bass they are playing then I would imagine that the whole process of creating music that other people might hear would be a crippling notion to them.
I have owned every fender from squire up to fender selects....and each price you go up the better the instrument is....they know exactly how each bass and guitar plays feels and sounds and prices accordingly. they have had so many years of studies and market research to know exactly how to price each instrument for max profit.

It wasn't obvious at all. In fact, what you're saying is absurd.
I don't know what leads you to believe that people with strong views would be crippled by the notion of creating music. Logically, one would assume that an opinionated, aggressive person would be exactly the type of person to do this kind of thing. People who make heated arguments for either side of a point aren't necessarily concerned with what other people think. They're expressing their viewpoint, which by definition is the opposite of "insecure". They feel secure enough in what they think to put their thoughts in print for all to see. Insecure people don't do this. They usually say nothing.
This is a public forum. The entire point of this site, and all others like it, is to encourage discussion. It's an intellectual excercise going back thousands of years in human history. You partake in a public debate, and the reader decides who has the stronger position. Hell, I've been involved in heated discussions on TB where I came in with one viewpoint and left with the opposite. This because I felt the person(s) making the opposite point had a stronger argument.
Wait, are you talking about Duff from GNR ? One of my favorite bassists of all time. Everything I can think of writing in response to your statement will probably get me banned, so I'll refrain from writing anything...... on second thought, $% #$%@ @#$%&@#$ !
