I think Fender is seriously crazy!

This thread started out as ass, is continuing to be ass, and will end up as ass.

Why are so many of you so emotionally invested in what other bass players on here play? It's absolutely ridiculous. It's "You wasted a lot of money on expensive basses" vs. "You got a cheap piece of crap." Both sides can go take a long walk off a short pier. Those of you who feel the need to poop on anyone else's choices and promote your own choices at the expense of others really need to check yourselves. And by "check yourselves," I mean "check yourselves into a mental clinic." You have the "All bass players should do what I do or you suck" disease. Who are you, who asked you, and why should anyone care what you think in the first place?

Then don't buy it. But it's one of the longest lasting sig models Fender's done so a lot of people are. Ridiculous? Not to Fender or to those who bought one and dig it.

silly arguments silly thread

over my career i could care less what is on the head stock or where it was made...

first i pick up a bass and play it unplugged.....if i like the way it sounds and feels....I'll plug it in

If i like the way it sounds plugged in...i assess it further...fit, finish, neck, frets, hardware etc.

if it passes all these tests i might buy it

the last damn thing i worry about is what is on the head stock or where it was made

i can tell you this...IMHO and FWIW....i have found that Korean and Japanese made ESP's/LTD's have blown away any and every Fender i have ever owned or played at any price point regardless of where it was made... :hiding:

(Hence the reason i own five ESP/LTD's and only 1 Fender which is MIM for those that care)

Interesting Quote here, Jimmy. Having said that, and if I may add "with all due respect", very few threads that you are involved in don't get mentions of what YOU play, WHO you play With.... and What your opinions are on MANY topics. Do they, too, become "ass"? :)

I came back to TB only a short time ago but upon returning I learned valuable lessons in less than 17 seconds:

Don't List ANY of the Gear you use.

Don't Join any "Clubs"

NEVER Mention a Word about P-basses not being the Best Invention since Ketchup.

Never mention Who You Are/Were/Might be......

I love these threads.....4,000 comments on how to Pronounce "Rickenbacker" is one of my Favorite threads. Really. :)

Ass? Naaaah. Just a bunch of folks sittin' around the Apple Barrel...waitin ' for Fender to buy Ampeg. :)

The difference is that this topic is beaten to death, Rich, and its only purpose is to poop on Fenders and folks who buy Fender models that they don't approve of. Sure, I have opinions, but I'll defend anyone's right to buy whatever they want, even stuff I hate. I don't insinuate that they're stupid for buying something or do the "my stuff can beat up your stuff" game.

They lost me when they started giving marginal rhythm guitar players like Duff McKagan, Mark Hoppus and Adam Clayton signature basses.

I only use old ones.

BTW…the best bass I ever had is one I have now. '69 rosewood neck I had (never got rid of it, pulled the frets out like you know who and recently had it re-fretted) a $125 mahogany body I bought off EBay then stained it and spray satin cleared it, canibalized my Jazz for it's Hipshots, bought a black pickgaurd, stock Fender bridge, A P46 pickup and a Tonestyler.

Best ever for me

Ya, meanwhile, they brought back the Jazz Bass Special with the Duff sig, gave kids a cheaper option for a good new bass that's a little different with the Hoppus, and gave hardcore fans of a band who's lasted over 30 years at the top of the industry who play bass a completely badass looking gold sparkle CS model Precision. I fail to see the downside.

The only people that deserve sig models are obscure jazz musicians that give lectures at Berklee and '60s session bassists that the general populus have never heard of. If Fender started making sigs for those guys then they would really shift some units.
