That's the best pictures I've seen of one. It's a beautiful bass that's for sure and I'm sure it plays great. Wish I had an extra 2500.00 right now lol.

24 hours later and it still looks beautiful. Need one in 4 strings, though.

Hand fitting a quality wood top is probably expensive. As great as Foderas are, I believe a great deal of their price is because of beautiful wood work that does not necessarily translate into better sound, they just look great.
I understand that woodwork is the most expensive cost in a bass but with this being the next bass under this line I cant see it being a 1000 better in looks. I'm verry happy with the looks of my 1805 and the sound is as good as any bass I've ever been around. Having said that I hope to one day have This new 2499.00 bass lol.
so if I had an sr950 soundgear years ago that made my hand hurt because the neck was so thin, would these necks fit the same profile or is there slightly more beef?
No, the Gerald Veasley GV1006 you buy in a store is a Prestige instrument made by the "team J Craft" guys in Japan. The one, and I mean the exact one that Gerald plays was made in the LA Custom Shop, almost certainly by Tak Hosono himself, but that's it. Literally, if you are not an endorser then your guitar is not made in the Custom shop. Steve Vai's guitars are made in Japan as well - though he may get the occasional neck from LACS the guitars are not one offs. The idea that there is a Custom shop level above Prestige isn't really true. And 0% of all the Ibanezes out there with that "CUSTOM MADE" inlay are actually custom made.

J Craft (part of the Fujigen crew) certainly makes the "Prestige" line, but I don't think they make Veasley's bass. I always thought that bass was made by Sugi Guitars along with the other higher priced signature models: Gary Willis, Adam Nitti (pending at least), Steve Vai, and Meshugga's M8M. ...but I may be wrong, honestly.
Veasley is talking to Nick Sugimoto (at least it looks to be him) throughout the vid when he's hammering out the specs.

The individual basses actually used by the endorsers are often made in LA, at the LACS by Tak Hosono and team there. The Veasley videos discussing his bass were all filmed in Los Angeles. I'm checking with my contacts at Ibanez, as the Sugi built instruments list I have is curiously missing basses (I'm a mod on an Ibanez guitar forum). But note the only Sugi built Jem is the one they only made a handful of with a boatload of relicing. The rest of Vai's guitars are Team j Craft. Same with Satch's guitars; just the Black Dog is Sugi instrument. Sugi doesn't make the instruments those guys play, they play production line instruments or LACS guitars.
You may very well be right about Sugi building the Veasley 1006, I'll let you know when I hear back.

As you suspected, both the Willis and Veasley are Sugi made
Those are the only 2 basses I can confirm at this point though.I'm jealousGot my Christmas bonus...

But I feel I really NEED a Pentabuzz, so I am fighting gas for everything else until I have one of those. Can't wait to see pics though. Did you order it from Rich @ IbanezRules, or did you pay too much?
