Someone mentioned they thought I was ragging on SX's. As derisive as it may sound, if that person can read the actual words in this thread objectively and come away with that idea, I honestly don't know what their malfunction is. My guess is the age-old "reading for slights" that seems to afflict so many online.

Now would that person actually admit that they might be mistaken? Hell no. That type of person would never do that... and that's how we end up right where we are now.

Whomever said I was ragging on SX's was wrong. They can't admit that now because that would put an end to another silly interweb tangent. I'm not whining about them being wrong, I'm simply pointing it out.

You brought up the topic of playability, since it's ridiculous to assume I would know anything about the playability of the basses in this thread, I offered my experiences with basses I actually own. Those experiences are now facts presented in this thread. Just for the record, how many SXs have you owned?

You still haven't answered that question. I don't think you've owned any so I don't think you know squat about their playability or performance in real life situations.

Just for grins I went back from the beginning and read the thread. You thought I was ragging on the playability of SX's. Most people, when they come to a conclusion, actually know what they've based it on. Do you? The posts are still there in chronological order.

BTW I have never owned an SX. I never bought an SX because by the time they came out I already owned 30+ basses and had been playing for 30+ years and they didn't fill any particular niche for me. Earlier in my career, when money was tighter, I would've loved to have an option like SX.

IME I do not have to buy every bass brand in order to simply play them and form an opinion. I've played dozens of SX's. I don't mod ANY basses anymore so that holds no appeal for me. I've made several very positive comments about SX's that for some odd reason you can't seem to see.

Many folks can actually deal with context. I asked about playability as a COMPONENT of PERFORMANCE. INSTRUMENT PERFORMANCE IS NOT SIMPLY RECORDING. Remember any of that?

Now did I say that SX's had poor playability? NO. Medium? Nope? Did I make any judgement on their playability?

DUH.

This is true... you can't know anything about anything unless you buy it.

My goodness you are persistent.

I didn't strongly object to anything, that's your imagination run amok again. I said that in this particular exercise of Savits, playability wasn't a component. And it's important. I asked you about the two basses in this test, NOT YOURS.

The test told NONE OF US READING THE READ anything about playability (other than it clearly wasn't unplayable. Yes, go ahead and twist that too;)). Your personal history was not a part of this test nor anything you felt it had proved.

The playability of the SX is VERY good after some tweaking. Easily as good as any Fender I've ever owned or played (required IMO)

If the playability wasn't there , I would have replaced it 100 shows ago or more :D

At this point there are some things that you really clearly can't understand, particularly what I'm saying... yet you won't stop talking and start thinking about what's been presented to you over and over again. Believe what you want and need to.

This stuff is a hoot. From now on just consider yourself right.
