Sometimes the "repeat" of the thread takes into account all sorts of new developments or products or perspectives. So while I don't mind looking up old threads (I love research) or suggesting that others do, if we didn't allow the reviewing of topics from time to time, why bother posting or discussing anything?

Without repeat threads our TB screens would go dark.

I'm too busy rockin the ignore list...if I started getting into keywords there would be probably zero left to read here. ;)

If I could block phrases and have them automatically throw those people into my ignore lists like a helpful double whammy? Hell yeah.

I'd start with "Best ____ for Metal".

Yep. thats the same thing that happens to any good forum. You start out asking a question. A few years go by and you are happy to answer the same question over and over, because you remember what it was like to not know the answer and had to either ask, or do a bunch of research (which you gladly share to avoid making someone else go through all that work for an easy answer). Then after a while, you have a group of people who have answered the same newbie question 17.3 million times being short with the noobs, who feel out of place.

Further, if people just wanted to read the answer, the point of a forum is lost. Part of the forum is the direct personal interaction. That's why the search tool is not a great asset to anyone, especially starting out. I also think a common question like "best pickguard for metal" would result way too many hits to want to sift through all the information when one could just ask for themselves. In my fish forums, I keep links to articles on the common questions asked by every noob so they can get all the information quickly in an easy and personal reply.

No, that's what happens in *life.* The more experience one acquires, the harder it is to remember not having any.
