I'll miss you, Chef.

Just got word from a mutual friend that TB's Chef has passed away.

He's been fighting cancer for the past year or so, thought he was in remission but it wasn't to be.

Alan is someone I first knew here on TB but we became friends on Facebook and he's been a constant and regular friend there for a few years. Beyond being a great player, he was a kind, gentle, sweet and devoted human. He was always thoughtful, and relentlessly tried to be positive and the best person he could be. I know that a few years back, the death of his mother hit him hard and even years after her passing, she was always in the forefront of his thoughts. He also was very much a dog lover, who spent most of his waking time with Annie, his constant companion.

Alan, my world is a little bit lesser for you not being with us anymore, but my life is richer for having known you.

May we all learn to show up in the world in such a way, that someone writes something like this when we pass from it. I'm sorry for your loss and to others who knew him personally.

I learned back in the old days that he was a member whose posts were generally better read than skimmed or scrolled past.
