You’re too kind. Thank You.We definitely need a "love" button.
Gosh. I've never played metal... Now I feel I have to.The 2 best basses for metal
That Ray is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen .There's no question which is my #1. If I had to get down to one bass out of my current stable, this one would be the one - my 2007 honeyburst Stingray 5 HH.

As for #2 ... that gets tougher. I really like my L-2500. A lot. But lately I've been using my Franken Jazz a lot more often and I'm find out that this ugly duckling sounds so good in a band setting that I'm starting to give it gig time with my Stingray, which I bring to every gig, rather than my L-2500. I think it's my #2 now - perhaps until I eventually get a Stingray Special 5HH or a Bongo 5HH. This one was born a fretless SX SJB-62 and then I:
- Replaced the neck with a matching fretted neck and added a roller string tree
- Replace the tuners with Hipshot Ultralights.
- Replaced the bridge with a 17mm Hipshot A-style bridge (wish I got a 17.5 mm bridge instead, but I can live wit this).
- Replaced the pickups with Nordstrand NJ5S vintage Jazz pickups
- Added an Audere 4-band preamp with Z-mode switch and a custom knob configuration (low mids over bass and high mids over treble, much more effective to me than high mids over low mids and treble over bass)
- Replaced the pick guard with a custom traced 4-ply tort-white-black-white one
- Had a side jack cut into it because I was using all four holes on the control plate for the preamp.
It looks pretty crappy, but my bandmates love the tone.

Thank you .Lovely basses!
(Yours and @LadyLoveStingRay5 )
The one bass that I could see exchanging my L-2500 against is a Stingray 5 HH.
Thanks, coming from a Stingray connoisseur that means something. Honestly, the burst is even deeper and richer in person. That Ray is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen .
I like the pair you selected. I think I would choose one of my L2500s and one of my my LB100s. They really do so well.I'll be 49 this year. Soon 50! Time to reconsider some things...
I think I'm settled on my bass arsenal. It'll wield the 2 following weapons:
-My faithful G&L L2500, 5-string active bass. There is no finer, nor more a versatile instrument. (It emulates a Fender Jazz bass and a MusicMan pretty well too!)
-A quality Leo Fender Precision bass. Classic 4-string, split-pickup design. And such a soulful tone!
I now believe that if I own both such basses, I'll be set for life.
What are your 2 fundamental basses?
On an upright.Gosh. I've never played metal... Now I feel I have to.
I also discovered that a Revo cocobolo strap matches the coloring in my 'Ray perfectly. I was hesitant to try a wooden strap, especially one that's only 2.5" wide, but it's surprisingly comfortable. Because the back side of the strap is as polished as the front, it does slide around more than the Kliq Aircell strap I used to have on it (it apparently also likes to hide under my collar), but the pairing looks so perfectly matched that I can't NOT use it.That Ray is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen .
