As a former teenage bass player with metal and punk aspirations, I can't say I never wondered what it felt like and wish im could've done it. The cover of London Calling is until this day one of my favorite covers of all times. Would they regret it or get in trouble for it? Maybe, maybe not. But sure, lets all ride our high horses. Off my lawn! now!

He learned that from a couple of blokes who from 1967-1973 thought it was a cool way to express themselves artistically...when they were young and dumb.
Monkey see monkey do and all that rot.
If it were my kid he would be working to pay what I spent to buy that one and then working to save for his new one....at the end he would get a real pat on the back for learning a lesson.
But my kids knew better by the time they were 4 years old.
The wanton destruction of a musical instrument is disgusting, and it doesn't matter if it's a cheap or an expensive one, or if The Who is doing it or Ritchie Blackmore or some stupid Kid. 
I seriously doubt that. I'm going with the "never worked for anything" theory.
Where did the kid get the idea to take his bass by the neck and smack the floor like he was chopping wood?
The exact same way Pete Townsend did, and then ten other guys and so on.
Not sure what video he saw but he surely saw a video.
I just remember you revealing your age, is why. Anyway, it was rather pitiful to watch those adults destroy a bass. The kid probably wanted to imitate someone.

All emotions aside (insert appropriate string of expletives and derogatory terms) that second one took some real punishment yet the neck joint seemed to hold up reasonably well...
A bit of a waste, but hey, it's not like those basses were probably worth much. I'm sure it's not going to crash our economy if the world has to do without another P-bass.
Being a younger dude who worked hard to earn what Ive got and what I get its always cringeworthy to see gear get smashed up. Is it fun? Sure. Is it practical? Not really. Is it gonna get you a date? Not one that you'll remember. Will it leave you feeling dumb? Probably. I haven't played in a few months because I left my gear at home when I moved and can't afford anything, so it hurts to see any gear being disrespected. Because in the end, to me, it's an issue of respect.

Which IMHO is moot. Nobody was ever cool for destroying an instrument, even if their name was Simonon or Hendrix.
