Well, I picked up the iPad 4 today. Then I went to GC and picked up the Hyperpad mount (Ultimate Support). I was going to get the Otterbox Defender, but that won't fit in the HyperPad mount. I'm entertaining the idea of using a cutoff wheel on a drummel tool to cut in slits that will allow the HyperPad to fit. It's an interesting idea, I think.
What to you guys use for cases when/if you use a mount that clips to a mic stand? I suppose the better question is, what's the best (toughest) cast and mount combo you've seen?

If I were to hang an iPad on my mic stand I would not buy any of the rather flimsy mounts that music stores sell, I would cobble something together from RAM Mount. I use [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] in my car, with some arms and brackets from the same brand. Infinitely more sturdy, but of course also a lot more expensive. This works with a back protector on the iPad, I don't like the idea of having to take it off to place it in a mount. There's a bigger version that works with an Otterbox as well.

I have a G55 wireless plugged into a Guitar Jack 2 with a Radial ProAV2 for outputs along with the iPad 4.
I'm in the process of cramming it all into a Line 6 wireless case ( everything fits but I had to do some
interior foam surgery ) which I'll glue/bolt/bungee onto some sort of mic stand music stand or shelf
When I get all the pieces and put it together to where I'm happy with it I'll post pics and a parts list.

I picked up an Otterbox Reflex case (for $30) and went out into the garage. After heating up the HyperPad mount with a propane torch, and some fileing, I was able get the bottom and sides of the HyperPad mount to snap around the Reflex case. It looks kinda melted in places, but the iPad's not going anywhere. I'm very pleased.
OH, I went to the mall (I really don't like that place) and got the full body Zagg, too. I've got too much money into iStuff, but it should last a long while.

If you still have the Otterbox, why not simply mod the cable ports?
I've done that with just about every case I've had...
I guess I have one last question.
I'm hoping to use the iPad on a stand and run a cable from it to the Alesis IO Dock. I know I'll need a 30-pin to lightning adapter (for the iP4), but I was wanting to set the dock by my wireless and other stuff. Many of the 30-pin extension cables say they're not for audio input. Are they referring to the analog input?

I'm not sure, but both the 2 foot and the 6 foot CableJive dockXtender 30-pin Dock Extender Cable work for me without problems with the Guitar Jack 2.
Audio seems fine. I can't tell a difference with/without the extender.
I'm sticking with the 2 foot one because that's all the length I need.
I don't know if it will work with the Alesis and the adapter.

I've used the IO Dock with a cable extender, two foot, this was just a noname cable from the local electronics outlet.
Not for audio probably means the analog sound; I have a cable in the car that is docking port at the one end and split into a USB for charging plus mini stereo plug at the other end, so there must be some pins in the docking port that has analog sound.

Been following for a while here and learning a lot.
My practice rig: a old hunk of oak shelf material angled up by a piece of leftover flooring with the Jam, Art Tube pre and iPhone OtterBox Defender belt clip mounted with velcro.

i have an art Tube MP - Studio V3 i have been considering using as my output to FOH. I just need to get with one of the sound guys and set that up. I have really enjoyed mine.
I know many people dislike music stands onstage, however, that oak plank idea would translate well to one of those.
One of my design goals is to have everything I need including my guitar tools, wireless/GJ2/DI rig, spare parts,
spare strings, spare batteries & chargers, stands, cables, everything other than my instrument(s) and the iPad fit
into one of these handy custom road cases...

10 Gallon would amaze me, but I'll be pleased if it'll all fit in a 14 gallon one.
