Thanks for the heads up Rip. To be honest I'm not sure if the upgrade is worth it for me as I don't play guitar and already have both bass expansion packs and they seem to do a pretty decent job for what I use it for.
I think all I would use would be the Dyna comp and possibly the phase 100 - how do people find these two units?
Oh, and as per usual, here in Australia the price is actually more than the US - $10.49!!! Bloody Apple ripping us Aussie muso's off again!!

I'm actually liking the DynaComp more than the blue compressor.
+1 on dyna....it sure has its own "sound". Hard to explain but it does.

Check out Alchemy Synth. Works great with Midimorphosis with a little tweaking.
Animoog works with midimorphosis.
And for a midi keyboard, if you have an ipad 1 or 2, get the Synthstation 49 by Akai - people are clearancing them out everywhere - I got mine from sweetwater for 80 bucks, GC had them for 90 during their Memorial Day sale. It has audio outputs on it, turns your ipad into a synth!

It's amazing how quickly our iOS world can change. Just a week ago none of us were doing the midi conversion stuff. So inspiring to be part of this.
I haven't had a problem but I can see the main limitations with iOS will be physical ones regarding the connections. If someone wants to use a keyboard and guitar interface at the same time, is this even possible given that the quality gear all gets connected to the single 30pin/lightning connection? Are there any bluetooth keyboards out there that can be used to avoid needing access to the digital connection? Also, charging of the iOS device will be an issue with devices that have been in use for some time.. I have to charge my iphone at least once/day fully and frequently will need to plug it in between tasks so it doesn't run down at a bad time. Asking an older device to stay up and running, onstage is going to require manufacturers consider charging options built into their interfaces...
Like I said, I am not asking my iphone to do much more than be a practice amp but for those users that are more demanding I have to imagine these problems are already creating situations where compromise ( or a second ios device ) is needed.

I feel like we are in the Saturn V rocket nozzle at lift off.
Simply amazing what is coming and becoming of this technology.
The only solution I've seen is the Roland interfaces (duo and quad capture). I don't know if they charge the ipad, or if I can send an instrument input to one app and the midi input to another at the same time - I haven't tried it because it'll be a big expense (new controller with a midi out, interface, power supplies for both).
Definitely an issue. At gigs, I've always gotta charge between sets. And the connection thing? That's its own issue.
I've already been forced to compromise with the limitations of the device, but I can see things improving with each new model. My biggest problem now is processor speed.
I just tried to run Jamup/Midimorphosis/Alchemy/Sunrizerat the same time, for two simultaneous synths under my bass tone. It was NOT a successful experiment! Lol, all kinds of clicks, pops and funky noise.
But running Jamup with Sunrizer sounds great, until I try to Audiobus everything together to record it. I may have to resort to my old Roland recorder to track this stuff.
Cablejive DockStubz+ is a little adapter/extender that lets you charge while using the port, maybe that is your solution.
I sent an email to Cablejive to see if it will work for us. I'll report back if/when they answer.

One question that comes to mind for me is relating to using "airplane mode" to squeeze the last cycles out of relatively underpowered iDevices.
How can one enable Blootooth on the host to interface external devices and still use that?
I suppose one could turn off WiFi and leave Bluetooth alone.
What else is stealing cycles, I wonder?
I haven't run up against any performance issues yet ( iPad 3 ), but I'm just starting to stack apps with Audiobus
and haven't even started with anything yet like the Blueboard and a couple of CC pedals.

I'm using the apogee duet which supports running both audio from my bass and midi from a roland A-49 midi keyboard while charging the ipad at the same time.
