Iron Ether Subterranea

You can use the Xerograph deluxe exactly like the non-deluxe by simply having the envelope up/down switch set to up, the resonance knob and clean volume knobs turned off and the filter volume set to unity.

I strongly agree with you about how the Deluxe version can cop all the standard Xerograph sounds (and more) but I just wanted to point out that the regular Xerograph actually does have a resonance knob. I'm thinking you almost certainly meant the sensitivity knob?

I have the 3 knob Xerograph and actually prefer it, because, I didn't like the way the envelope sounds and ended up using another envelope filter for my envelope needs. I play a fair bit of reggae and love how the 3 knob xero sounds as a low pass filter. I also use it a bit for filter sweeps with an expression pedal, so for these reasons it stays on my board.

Absolutely. For a guy like Stu Brooks who just uses the Moog LPF as a static filter for reggae tones or a guy like John Davis who uses his Xero (or Moog) solely for expression controlled filter sweeps the standard Xerograph is perfect. Personally I dig the envelope filter tones, but if I didn't I'd be in the same boat as you Matt since it reduces the need for tweaking and allows for bigger knobs when you do. And honestly, most of my Xerograph use IS for foot sweeps, but I still like the added functionality. Different strokes.

Yep, meant to say Sensitivity. Thanks.

The octave is very clean, but the others are pretty "synthy" as you'd expect. Mixing in some clean often works nicely; also as you can see from this thread following the pedal with an(y) envelope filter can really smooth things out in interesting ways.

I just got an email from Taylor. I ordered mine on Nov. 19th. He told me the other day that it will be another couple of weeks or so. He just lost his two employees. So he is pretty jammed up.

Did Taylor just randomly send you an email or was he responding to an inquiry? Just curious. I don't want to harass Taylor due to his recent circumstances but I did place my order October 28th-ish and I haven't gotten an email/update. I'm hoping that any day I'll come home and have the SubT waiting.

That is what's so great about the variety of options we have for filters, fuzz and what ever. I actually didn't think the xero envelop sounded bad, I just liked 3leaf's filter's better. That said, I have a Mantra arriving on Monday, so the filter wars continue... :D

From my personnal experience dealing with IE, Taylor won't send you much in terms of emails or notifications on his own but if you have a question/inquiry, he will always anwser in a timely fashion. Losing employees and having health issues while it's crunch time with orders probably hasn't helped the process being as seamless as it usually is.

And side note, the message on the IE site says they're in the process of filling out orders and to check back soon for updates and new products. Is that implying that IE is releasing something new again soonish? Anyone heard anything??

Holiday crunch time.

Like for school? Makes sense I suppose. I wish I had gotten started on my electronics degree 3 or 4 years ago so I could ask for a job/offer to help in exchange for pedals haha. I would totally move to New Orleans for that. Badass job in a badass city.

Anyways, back to reality. Thankfully the SubT is further down my GAS list than the Oxide and Polytope, which I can probably find used. I hope this doesn't cause him two go out of business or take a hiatus, thus causing the price of his used pedals to skyrocket. Not to mention future amazing pedals that would never happen. Nightmare.

More like for a huge pedal backlog during Christmas and New Years.

Sounds like it wouldn't hurt to offer your services!
