Irreversible climate damage is imminent

I really need to figure out which smiley would best label sarcasm. In other words, the part of my post you responded to was sarcastic.

As far as alternative energy sources go and the effect that current sources have on the climate, even if it was proven that what we (humans) have been doing to power our world aren't in any way affecting climate change, is moving towards cleaner and renewable sources such a bad thing? It seems to be the arguments against those things I hear the most are that they are inconvenient. Examples:

"I hate the time it takes for CFLs to get bright."
"Electric cars are wimpy."
"Who wants to drive a boxey tin can?" (I actually heard that on a radio show)

I would think that if every roof was covered with solar panels it would make a huge dent in the amount of electricity that needs to be produced in conventional ways. I dunno. I'm far from being the brightest CFL in the sign.

Good points. Warming or not we shouldn't be polluting up the place and leaving it in good shape for future generations. Views on just how to do that may differ. Personally, I hate plastic.

One of the biggest lies by the climate change fear mongers is that any warming at all is bad. There is no such thing as "good" warming.

Longer growing seasons and increased food production in cold climates is overlooked.
Less heating fuel needed in cold climates is overlooked.
Increased crop varieties in former cold climates is overlooked.

Also, any climate changes will always be worse:

Drought prone areas will see more drought, not less.
Flood prone areas will see more flooding, not less.

... and my toes won't get so cold at night.

Irvirisable dimate clamage is a cload of rap.

Go home you're drunk.

Climate change? What? Global warming not working out for the PR effort? We gotta bait and switch with the labels?

Earth's Climate changes, it's natural.

Amazing! The same old tired excuse that his been shot down so many times before! It's almost like there is no actual reason to deny climate change!

Sometimes, a thing gets named and then when it's realized that the name could have been better after an occurance of sorts. They named it "Global Warming" and that left it wide open for criticism after the first big snowfall. Hence the change. Specificity is necessary when you're dealing with people who look for any weak spot to poke.

Look what happened to Ayds.

I may not agree with metalbasspro, but I give him credit for thinking for himself.

After reading his conspiracy theories in the Malaysian plane crash thread I would have thought for sure he would be a global warming 'oil companies rule the world' believer. :D

All the data for man induced climate change is backed by so many creditable scientists that I have to believe it is true. A single volcanic eruption can change global weather patterns for months at a time so I think it is very probable that the last century off industrialization has had an affect on climate.

I'm convinced the big oil companies (and the governments that they own) know full well what is happening and they are just trying to make as much money as they can before the you know what hits the fan. By then they will have built up enclaves to ride out the coming collapse of what we know as civilization.

Anyone who dissmisses thousands of scientists work better pull their head out of the sand.

"I hereby, by my signature, demonstrate my wholehearted professional support for the foregone conclusion of [DEL]global warming[/DEL]; [DEL]climate change [/DEL]; man-made climate change. The world is definitely coming to an end this time. Really. No, really, it is. This is definitely not the same as in 1973. No, most definitely not."

Please let me know when the next set of stipend checks can be expected. It is vitally important that my [DEL]graduate students' [/DEL]computer modeling work continue uninterrupted.

P.S. Pay no attention to what goes on behind the curtain or on the sun or with those "deniers".
