I take the opposite approach. I call it the Wheel of Fortune approach where they give you R, S, T, L, N & E. Words like STARE, TEARS & ROAST have worked really well. I'm almost always solving in 3 or 4.

I saw a web article that had a common-letter algorithm. It came up with SOARE as the perfect starting word, due to the frequency of those letters in most words. I haven't used it yet but it makes sense.

I like AISLE, though. That's a good one. I may throw that in the mix. :thumbsup:

My strategy is to start with a word containing 2 different vowels (but not "u") and 3 different (but the most commonly used, especially "s") consonants.

STARE
REAMS
SPOIL

To my thinking, the vowels are the key.

I have a couple of words I start with but once you find a letter it's hard not to want to adjust to words that contain that letter, in case you get lucky!

I just meant the words seem harder for me to figure out. Could just be me.

I'm 35...or possibly 37 games in (our household feel we lost a day or two with the NYT takeover.)
Yet to score a 2 or 1, 9 3's and 14 4's.
It's definitely a game I'll keep playing as long as it's free...and there's several other variants out there if the NYT gets greedy.
'Hello Wordl' is a favourite.

Came across another fun game today, Globle (globle-game.com) a fun test of your knowledge of countries. I'll admit I had to open up a Google Map for help.
