Is it wrong to think you're unattractive?

I love how this has now become a thread about scorpionldr. I had to go back to make sure it was a thread about Spade.

To Spade: Is your wife fat, or has she recently gained weight? Just curious, because often people will project their own issues onto other people. She could be unhappy with herself, so she lashes out and says mean things.

Other than that, I'll just say, go back and read Tat's posts. She's spot on.

It's hard to not find myself feeling the moment and over contributing.

Even harder than wrangling sexy Asian chicks. :D

Can you pwetty please be my coach? :D

I'm probably the better model for a student anyhow considering my deficit. Some day there will be a thread

You guys back off.

I'm clearly the one she will coach.

:hiding:

Seriously guys - have you never heard of group lessons? I can coach you all. ;)

Hey guys, your e-rections are showing.

I can deal with that. I have a ruler and a wooden spoon.

Any guy who takes a woman's advice on how to be more attractive to women deserves the loneliness he will endure as a result.

Oh ye of little faith. I haven't done bad for my guy friends through the years. The ones who chose to pursue relationships as a result of my counsel are pretty stable in the ones they chose. The ones who didn't are still pining after me and occasionally surface in the form of 3AM texts after the bar closes asking me why I wouldn't date them.

The fact that you understand this must cause more frustration than the underlying issue itself.

It could if I let it. Why waste calories on being angry over something I can't identify? When that sort of conundrum happens, I just lock myself in the music room and log into Bass Central to shop for new instruments.

NEVER EVER EVER BE AFAIRD OF BEING UGLY

I'm not AFRAID of being ugly. ;) I have ( * )( * ) and that usually diverts the attention from the big wart on my nose.

Maki! Baby! Been wondering when you'd show up to chime in. You're spot on with the lashing out. We women tend to do that sometimes. I used to solve that feeling by hanging out with Ben and Jerry. Now I solve it by hanging out with my favorite sneakers and a walking buddy or two. Oh. And. Thanks.

Predictable huh, why I oughta ...

Every thread with scorpioldr just devolves into him arguing everyone's advice, why bother?

I read the first page a few days ago. Then the other day, I saw that scorp had been the last post in the thread. I knew that I didn't need to bother reading the thread, because the fact that scorpioldr had been posting in it told me all that I needed to know about where the discourse of this thread had most likely went. :hmm:

I like ya, bro, but let's face it: If you're posting in a thread it's usually some uber-negative tangent about how everyone and everything sucks. Someone could start a thread with the premise that puppies are cute, and you'd post in it saying, "Yeah, but they sure do poop everywhere...and then you have to walk them every morning, and they bark a lot, and they drink out of the toilet, etc."

And I did go back and read some of the later pages of this thread, and I was pretty spot-on with my original assumptions.

I looked, yea, I clearly went from being very subtle to the typical "smack over the head" manner of posting. But what am I going to say, that the guy's wrong to think that maybe he's unattractive because he sees what's going on with his life and the way people treat him?

I've pointed out a number of good details;
1. If you're nice enough, you'll get dates for a while
2. That unfortunately when most socializing is based off looks to start, you might find there are a lot better suitors out there than you, and the truth can be brutal
3. That personality flaws are a turnoff for some, which is also dependent on a good balanced combination of 1+2.
4. It doesn't matter how much success you've found, that you can always find something about yourself that you're dissatisfied with.

Now, y'all can take this as a "life ****ing sucks!" message, or you can take it as a "life is maintenance, and with enough good maintenance, you can cultivate a productive lifestyle that is socially rewarding". Personally, the latter for me is what I've found to be truth.

As for your puppy statement, LM. My older brother has had a puppy for the last two years. I've never been happier to get humped upon each visit, have play marathons, or see that the lil sucker makes some of his bad decisions on my carpet. But I'm happy to see the master/pet relationship discipline building as well.

The connecting point on both my tirades in this post is quite simple; it's a practice. It's years of honing focus/skill to get where you want in anything, be it puppy training or dating. Sorry if you don't like it, it's life.
