Is Modulus still in Business?

I looked this Modulus up on GC's used website. It's an older model non truss rod. It's more than likely 17mm spacing. The pickups are EMG DC soapbars probrably with an EMG 2 band preamp. Check the serial # on the back of the headstock the last 2 #'s should indicate the year that it was made. It's a nice bass. It looks like it was defretted and made into a lined fretless. IMHO.

Thanks, I had checked earlier but didn't find it.

Sad news. Glad I received my balls-out blue Q6 before the lights went out. It was July 2012, so not exactly one of the last, but now I'm glad I did it. Too late to order the 34" Q5 I've been putting off, though. :(

I hope all of the employees find similar or better employment asap, though, especially as it is a local business to me.

I'm glad I picked up my first Q5 back in August last year

Chechen top/Chechen fingerboard

Only downside is the weight @ 10lbs
But it sounds flat out amazing and I got to hear a friend play my Flea 4 with a lane poor pickup last year and it sounds amazing too!!!

Just lucky as all get out to have my modulus basses!!!

If they were alive, we would have heard something by now. Hell, if they were being resurrected, we probably would've heard something by now.

They are most likely gone. If you still want a bass with a synthetic neck, get a Status, Zon or an aftermarket neck

Or get a used Modulus. There are enough out there that this is still an excellent option and often cheaper than a new bass. Status and Zon are great, but have a different sound (I know, we've been over this ad nauseam).

Lots of reasons. Zon and modulus do sound quite different, the neck construction is quite different and so are the overall designs. Within the zon line there is a ton of variation as well, where moduluses sound more uniformly modulussy. With the exception of the genesis models.

Right on Pickles. That's the best summing up of it that I've heard in short form.
My two modulus basses are a VJ and Genesis fretless. I played a Q6 for ten years but moved on to my Zon TJ6 because it is capable of so much more in terms of tonal flexibility and Joe made it with 19mm spacing.

Even though it gets most of my attention my two Mods are keepers.
