Is Modulus still in Business?

+1 (I own/ed one)

and he did use diamondwood early on and than for some stability issues he went to a 'no fretboard' design.

Yeah i have one of the unstable moses necks in my closet. Sounds killer but warps in direct sun! Steve replaced my fingerboard with Diamondwood which helped with stability. Cool that he's got a new design. I always thought diamondwood and phenowood were the same thing. I stand corrected on the collaboration!

No I was referring to some bass amp companies.

Modulus isn't going any where and they have always been a small operation.

I called today and left a voice message.

I have a 6 string fretless in the works.

Whether it's going to cut it or not doesn't matter if the companies business plan is set up the way it is and not for certain individuals.

Dealers are selling Modulus basses and Modulus is still in the game.

Mungi, for the record I know that there is no logical excuse for poor customer service. But things happen.

Modulus will be alright.

That someone would be me and I stand behind what I stated (and no I am not being sarcastic).

Modulus is still in business.

Dealing with a minor situation as most companies sometimes has to do, but very much still in business.

Modulus endorser.

Please understand that just because dealers are no longer taking shipment of products from a company or not placing orders does not mean that the company is done.

Sometimes restructuring really does mean restructuring.

Not taking orders and out of production does not mean out of business.

Selling of machinery doesn't necessarily mean that a business is folding.

Sometimes you sell off old machinery for new machinery.

Sometimes you sell of machinery because you no longer need it.

I don't throw my friends under the bus and second I will only say so much in regards to what is going on at Modulus.

Some people have issues with how Modulus conducts business but it seems like some of the people with these issues really never had their own personal business dealings with Modulus and then the mob mentality takes over and it becomes one big cloud of negativity towards a company that most know nothing about.

I've said all I'm going to say on it. And no I'm not being sarcastic.

And again Modulus is just fine.

I used to be a dealer, so I had contact with Modulus. I told several people about 2 years ago that I would give Modulus about a year to year and a half and they would be out of business.

Guess what 2 years later they seem to be!!!!!!

I ordered a neck from them 3 years ago thru Atlanta Bass Gallery and still do not have it. Every NAMM that they went to they told ABG it was almost done, and last time they said it would be finished in 2 weeks - still never got it.

I feel the "Fat Lady has just finished her song on this one". I will miss them, but companies fold every day with the present economy. That is a fact of life.

I have known about it since this thread started and a few TBers clued me in on exactly what happened.

I just think its crap that no one at Modulus had the tact to let the users of their product know what was going on.

If they would have said "Hey guys, this is what is going on and these re our options" I am sure they could have sold several new basses and possibly stayed afloat until an alternative was found.

I just sold my prized Flea Bass 4 string in Blue Flake...i hope i didnt make a mistake...

...I wonder if they are going to be worth more/rare in the future

Stephen, that Q4 is a beauty! Congratulations. As far as selling the Blue FB4, you will certainly be able to replace it in the future if you want to.
I personally do believe that the values on these basses will increase in the future.
Does anyone have any knowledge of production numbers over the years of the various models?

The basic formula is that the first two digits of the number indicate the year they were built - i.e. a bass starting with "98" indicates that it was built in 1998, "12" indicates that it was build in 2012, etc. After those two digits, the numbers increase based on when they were built in the given year.
