Is this the latest eBay scam?

.6% of your transactions didn't go as planned.....
Thats easy to say when its not you waiting around three months for a couple of grand that paypal wont let you have. Not to mention I had planned to use some of the cash to pick up a '69 EB3 that sold to someone else because paypal wanted to sit on my funds. How many times do you let a company f you before you refuse to give them your business anymore? Like I said in my earlier post, its happened to thousand of other people so dont be surprised if they pull it on you one day.

Wow. Is that for all sellers or just new sellers?

It's available to buyers if they activate the option in their PayPal account, and the seller has no control over it. So you sell something and get a message from PayPal telling you to ship and you will get your funds when the seller says everything is received and ok. Only available to "selected" PayPal users though - it appeared on my account and I disabled it, now the option is gone.

The problem with things like Paypal is they're heavily automated. So they're great at dealing with routine things which account for 99% of what passes through their system. When something goes wrong however is where they often fall down for the individuals having a problem.

And it's not just Paypal. I've done all my banking with the same bank for over thirty years. I have a substantial equity line of credit with them. And an excellent credit score. But last year I had my ATM card put on hold for two days. Why? Because I ordered something online with it (a subscription renewal to Scott's Bass Academy) and the bank's automated fraud detection algorithm got suspicious because the billing originated from a site in the UK.

I got no notification. No email, text, or even a phone call. They just froze the card. Something I discovered when I went to use it to pay for a week's worth of groceries at a supermarket the following morning. And when I called, the bank's cardholder security people, they got a little put out that I was annoyed.

First they claimed (not true) that I never ordered anything from a non-US company directly before. When I pointed out it was a renewal, there was a long pause and no reply. When I asked why I wasn't notified they claimed I hadn't given the bank any contact information. Then I pointed out they most certainy had my contact info. You need to show a photo ID just to open a checking account there. And they insist on you furnishing a phone number when you do. And when I applied for that equity credit line they got every bit of personal and contact information I had short of me being fingerprinted and asked to submit a DNA sample. Then this lady hopefully asked: "Have you changed your phone number recently?"

After several back and forths in a similar vein she finally admitted she had no idea why the freeze happened or why I wasn't immediately notified per the bank's own policy. At which point she said: "I'm removing the hold right now, and updating your profile so an international payment request shouldn't make this happen going forward, m'kay?"

Huh? Shouldn't happen going forward?

Yeah. Swell. That would be great.

Huh....

Paypal has never held my money. Sounds like he got in trouble, and they are holding his funds. So now, he doesn't want to send any merch until he can hide is money away.

The pictures alone would have scared me away, without the nonsense about labels.
I recently sold a bass on eBay and PayPal held the money for something like 6 days. I don't sell a lot on eBay but I have perfect feedback.

Lol. The guy keeps unleashing and trolling on me.

He listed the basses on CL to "prove this wasn't a scam" and then went on to say he would refuse to sell them to me on CL because he doesn't want to circumvent eBay.

Then he said "I also have other listings on CL" and sent me one. Here is the link, and j am not kidding!

Yeah, the cops need to spray his house with Luminol.....

That's a genius observation. And I suppose if someone breaks into your house and steals stuff you deserve it for not having better security?

Good point. But the reason I don't think this is a good analogy is because if someone robs your house, it is due to LACK OF ACTION (no security system, no arms, no fighting skills, unlocked door, etc.). Buying a bass under such ridiculous terms requires willful engagement, ACTION on the buyer's part. So far, neither has happened to me and I like to think it is because of good decisions on my part.

Yep. If you can even figure out what the dude is talking about, if you bite on his deal, you're just asking for trouble. Who would do that?

Wouldn't say "deserves it," but I might say that person might want to consider where he/she lives and take appropriate action to discourage break-ins as much as their budget allows. Same with this...as they always say, caviar emptor.

The only time I did something like this was when I was selling the PSL's on my season tickets. Technically you weren't allowed to sell them, so I sold a pencil and as an added bonus I included my PSL license. However, I actually DID give it to them!
