No this is clearly the end of the world.

Quickie strikes again with his lovable socially-conscientious musing on a possibly doomed future!!!

More power to you if you already are. I'm currently working too hard to take much more onto my plate.Impact, positively, the lives of hundreds of folk then speak to me of armchair diagnosis.
I have an inability to ignore ironic content. Hopefully science will find a cure for it between their hard work solving teenage laziness and diagnosing selective, self-serving memories of those beyond their teenage years. We'll all be happier when that happens, it seems.Thinly veiled insults are beneath civil discussion. If you dislike my thoughts, then ignore them and read on in the thread. Keep the insults to yourself please.
Voiceless hit the nail on the head... to an extent. I'll come back to this thread after I get my workout in![]()
Those extraordinary changes are coming in part from the creations of the youth of this US generation. It was Gen Y's creations and adoption of social media in this country that allowed it to flourish and impact those around the globe. That is just how I would feel as a high school senior. Most adults I know have very little motivation to show up to work. Not because they are lazy, because the low wages and less then humane working conditions, the little to no paid time off, and watching the owners line their pockets at the expense of the worker.
I could be wrong about the child in question, but I think this paints a broader picture of the current US generation.
Then I see the youth of Egypt making extraordinary changes to their country. From what I know 60% of they're population is 30 and under.
I would be interested to hear what people thought of the youth in other countries. Right now I see our current generation as

I had a book and movie about my year..
I feel each generation has to deal with burdens left over from the previous generation. Well let's just say we are handing our kids a big ball of ....
It goes beyond parenting, its a social virus that's infected our culture. Why do you think companies have no problem breaking the law? Because after paying the fines they still make a huge profit. Why do you think coaches give kids steroids? As a coach or a student its better to win the state championship then worry about the athletes health.
Why would a kid not want to be a "hard worker"? Because they watched their parents scrape by, killing themselves to make ends meet. Only to have it all go to gas, food, insane taxes ( especially in NJ ) mortgage on a house that is worth less then they are paying for.
I blame the adults, the ones who forced the collapse then made the bonuses. Take a look around and see what social lessons the current generation is being taught. Kids are smart, they don't have bosses, political parties, or beliefs that keep them in the dark about the real world. As adults we have a million reasons NOT to stick to our beliefs. Its about how can I make enough money, or keep our job, or appeal to the loudest group of donors.
What type of job could a 20 yr old get these days? After they pay out the taxes, the car loan, insurance, gas, uniform ( that some places make them pay for ), hair cuts, clothes, etc..... is it really worth the $8hr someone is offering? I would chose a tent also, sorry but blame the people ruining the country. Besides they are competing with unemployed adults and illegal immigrants.
Now that is the average kid, think of the kid who wanted to be a doctor then found out how much school costs, how many years they have to go to school to finish, then how much they will have to pay for insurance. What do you think they are thinking?
Every generation will have lazy people, but I feel that this US generation has a whole other reason not to join the rat race. They can see it from the outside in. And if they can stay out of it, I'm sure they will. What is the carrot at the end of the stick? At least my generation ( 30's ) had the whole " go to college and you will get a good job". Now look at it, does that advice still hold true today? OK Rant over..........
The older you get, the more likely you are to wax nostalgic about how you had to 'walk uphill in the snow to school both ways'.
Good on him for choosing his own path. Why should he have to have a job? Because society says so? Just because he has a different outlook on life, doesn't mean he has the wrong one.
I'm extremely lazy but I don't have the narcissism and general sense of entitlement... I suppose one out of three ain't bad.
