In my most humble opinion, you can play any kind of music on any kind of bass. 
I sure do. and as long as it doesnt say "F%#K U!!!!" on my basses, nobody really seems to care.

I only prefer a Jackson for the necks, tone and genre is irrelevant since I primarily play rock anyway or I would be playing a Fender P/J or 2 for sure.

UPDATE:I might have to pick up some QP's. I've got active EMG's in the other two. Put some flat wounds on the Futura and some QP's in the Kelly - get a little variety going.
Here are the Seymour Duncan QP's in my Kelly.
To me they sound great, much better than stock -In fact, I they sound so good I doubt I would go the expense and trouble to replace stock pickups with EMGs.
Also, I put Rotosound 77 Jazz bass strings on the Futura. I think the nut had been replaced and cut to hold larger gauge strings so I had to put 45-105s on it. It plays really nice -very smooth. It might be getting QP's next.

Thanks Amimbari! - I need a new group photo - the Kelly isn't in this photo, but I'm waiting on a few additions to the line up.
I think as far a sound goes the Rickenbacker 4003 is really better suited to metal than Jacksons. Jacksons are just really easy to play (compound radius neck, low action, jumbo frets, thin profile) which allows you to play faster, but fast does not equal metal.

the only non pointy misfit is the Charvel CHS Fnderhead

Man, I really love that white 4B in the top left. Seeing a bass like that was the reason I got into Charvels in the first place. What a cool find!
And I think it's really weird that they made 2Bs with the non reverse p pickups for a while.

I showed you my tbx a while ago when I just got it and asked for some advice about the damaged paintwork.
I talked to some local luthiers about getting the paint touched up as some of you had suggested but it would cost way too much money since the whole bass would have to be repainted (I was told it would be impossible to match the flake paint).
The second option was to have a new pickguard made to replace the crappy one the previous owner made himself.
I think it looks pretty awesome

I am always glad you got that one MK84, but I wonder what that guy was thinking putting that silly pickguard on there... 
( FORGIVE ME SHARK ) - as I know your one TBX has a white guard on it as well...
anyway MK, glad to see your still around and stil have the TBX..
take the guard off and fill the holes and paint the hole area sparkle green from a model car paint kit

That is a really cool bass. I love to find one like that around here.
To me a little wear and tear just adds character. You could also just paint the pick guard either to match or to compliment the body color.

I agree, It would have looked a lot better I've the guy never screwed the bass up by putting a pickguard on it.
I've talked to a luthier about touching up the paint and he told me it would be impossible to match the new paint to the paintjob on the bass. There was too much damage around the screw holes to make it look good too.

Thanks, it is a great bass. I've looked at a lot of options for the pickguard, including a green one or a clear one.
Both did not look great and I settled for the white pickguard since repainting the entire bass (touching up wasn't a option) would have cost several hundreds of euro's.

well MK, they do say your suppose to play the things not look at them most of the time, so I wouldn't worry about it. It still is a sparkleGreen TBX, and there still are even fewer sparkle than the painted ones out there and for all we know it could have originaslly been the guitar for the pictures in the catalog, and finally sold to a dealer, and thru the years it passed thru quite a few hands
I always wanted a 94/5 Futura LX Pro NT, but those are very hard to find so I bid really low on a Futura EX Pro BO and surprisingly won the damn thing so now I have both basses listed on page 13 of the 95 Catalog...lol
