yes it is..the LX was the NT the EX was the B.O. I would love to ship it to you, but doing the international thing from where I am is very expensive and long lines at the Fedex dropoff place AND THE DAMN SURCHARGE they charge to ship stuff out of that place USA or INTERN. !!!!

Even though it would be nice to have a KipWinger model, it is the same body just minus the shark-neck.

once I get it home and set it up, I'll post a few pics...

Oh well, there's no reason for me to buy another bass right now.
I've spent a lot of money on bass related stuff last year, my new year's resolution is to not give into GAS for a while....

I have a C5a bought as a backup bass.

Trouble is, the sound isn't doing it for me ... it's way too toppy (trebly) and the only way I can tame it is to wind the bass control right up and the treble control way down. Which leaves me no room to manoeuver playing live,

Anyone else have the same issue (it's obviously a taste thing) and if you did, how did you solve it ?

I've had a few ideas, but interested to hear yours.

Have your tried changing the height of both of them from the strings as an experiment just to see if it would do anything yet?

too trebly usually means string facors in there somewhere...
have you thought about another brand string not so "twangy"..lots of possibilities actually.

p.s. my emg'ed model 1 and tbx are runaway trains with treble especially for the new string break in period.

So the pre in my bass is known to be one that boosts treble ? I suspected that that and opened up the back to see if I could find a trim pot, but no such luck. Or maybe the treble control only does boost and not cut ? That would tie in to my experience so far.

Would that also mean that the bass control only cuts bass (as opposed to offering boost and cut) ?

Swapping pickups is obviously an option. Again, you're saying the pickups on my bass are known for what ? A clear (level) response ? Or boosted treble ?

Any suggestions for a more old-school style pickup I could just drop in. something more P-like ?

You could possibly take your Preamp out and go with passive contol pots. That would be pretty inexpensive. (I did that with a Squire J-bass that was having the same issue) Now I can roll off the top end no problem or still add a little bite but without the harshness and clackin'.
I have Duncan Design passive pickups in my C5 and they sound awsome.(passive that is) and if you roll off the bridge p/u you can get a decent P-sound.

I never saw a pic of BigBeatN's c5A, and I'm assuming it has a pre and I'm assuming it is a 2000/2001 where I could be wrong..

on all my j2000's the treb/bass knobs have a center detent, and geez, if I crank the bass past that point they get VERY bassy! ( same with the treble )

on my passive units with the OEM pups, I do what everone else does, move the bal way towards the P, and let the J pup just barly be on for the P sound. Thre others that have the switch, they are almost ALWAYS on the P position....

Those "look" just like the p/u's that are on my bass.My Serial # is:J013494 (if yours is close to that then I'd say they should be the same) and yes my bass can get a pretty thumpy sound if you roll off the bridge p/u about 1/2 and pluck up by the neck. But I "really" like the growl you get with both p/u's together. The bridge p/u gets a good "Jaco" type sound too.

not that I know of .. the Futura was the alder painted replacement for the early 90's lacewood kipWinger.... same body.

I also finally put my purple ( blackcherry ) 3b together. The preamp pot soldered on the board was bad, and I let it sit in the case since Christmas as I WAS going to buy a 50k pot and do it up, but Bongomaina from here sold me his pre out of his Concert, so now that 3b has a blend knob where the switch was....

so now I have an extra pre to toss in something. I also traded my black 2b with the kahler to a friend, and he is trading me for his crackleFinished 3b and a stock jackson bridge...I always told him no, but I picked up a gold kahler for 100 from wammiWorld, and it will probably look great on a crackle finish and I never had a crackle anything..

I've played a Jackson bass. I didn't care for it. It looked like one of their guitars that was really popular in the 80's/early 90's and I didn't care for the action. However, it's owner swore by it and FWIW we're at opposite ends of the spectrum as far as playing styles go.

I own a Jackson bass. I really like it. It looks similiar to a Jazz bass and has P/J pickups. It's salmon pink. I play many different styles with it.

I have a 80's jackson p bass, awesome punch. The pups died recently, still deciding what to replace em with. Suggestions?

I have a model1 with a EMG replacement and it is too midrangy. I would probably find a pup that has a value of more than 8kohms like the stock jacksons and get that "energy" back Bassline always comes to mind

or find another oem pickup for 10 bucks and call it a day ...lol
