RS music bought those off of the ebay sellers who didn't sell them 2, the white one and green ones were on ebay and never sold. the crackle for 1250 is not "too bad" in price...

Most of the time their prices are way high. They sell $100,000-200,000+ Les pauls to collectors and rock stars. Back in the late 90's they were a little more sane. But alot of the stuff barring 50's and 60's Les pauls you can get alot cheaper elsewhere.
If that white "reverse" were black and more like $1000-1200 I would jump allover it.
I like to think these Jacksons are worth the extra cash because thay are really high quality. I am sure one day the value of these will jump. I remember that my Jazz Basses were worth next to nothing in the 80's then all of a sudden in the late 90's I was able to get thousands for them. I think any investment in a reasonably priced USA jackson from the 80's will one day be worth a lot more, at least it's a nice thought.
I don't know if they'll ever really increase in value due to today's stigma on the 80's, but that's not to say it can't change some day. IMO, what (should) make these somewhat valuable is that it's often hard to find the nice ones AND in good condition. Sad to see how many 80's guitars and basses were defaced during the grunge era. At least, it annoys the heck out of me anyway!
I'd like to think that my Jacksons "will" increase in value, but on the other hand IF they do, that means anything I am looking for will also be more expensive out of the gate...so it's a catch-22 situation 
speaking of rare Jacksons, a friend found this thing and I bought it

ya MIJ like all the rest from the time period. poplar body. For the price I got it for, I may be able to justify sending it to my friend who does all my work and have him repaint it white.

Has DiMarzio pickups and Hamer CTS pots/cap. The wiring is from a Peavey mixer head and so is the Switchcraft jack.

Nice ! I only have the one Concert Bass. I really need to get a couple of more Jacksons. I used to have my Jazz Basses to fall back on but since I sold them I only have the one guitar. I have started gigging again and I need a back up. if you have anything you might want to sell let me know. I am really only interested in USA though.
I would argue with you sandman about the "MIJ/usa neckthru difference" and I am only expressing my opinion.
since we are talking used for a moment:
MIJ 3b - maple center 1/4sawn neck/scarf joint for the head/poplar wings
USA - same thing
MIJ rosewood f.board - 1-5/8nut
USA - same thing including the same compound radius
MIJ pickups/tuners/preamp/bridge
USA same thing as longs as it is a p/j
MIJ 3b in mint shape 500
USA - more like 2-3x 1500-3grand
so break out the calculators - 2grand more for a sticker, sharkfin inlays and a serial number in the Jackson hall of fame?

I guess I am a bit of a snob, as when I was building my Fender collection I was only interested in USA made. I had a 64 Candy Apple Red Jazz (pre CBS) and two from the seventies but still nice vintages. Now that they are gone I want to build a little Jackson collection but I really am looking for only vintage instruments or perhaps a brand new USA Custom Shop bass (nothing from the 90's) maybe it's foolish but those who know me might agree I have no problem playing the fool if it's something I like!Thanks for the low down on the basses I appreciate the info !!!
snob? not to me because we all want what we want and if the price is what you can afford, yes they are worth more as collectibles, and the value of those units will always bring back more.
there's always a few usa or cs for sale, you'll eventually find units that suit your color tastes.

Also my 87 Custom Concert plays better than any guitar I have ever owned incuding even the best Fender So I really have a soft spot for these 80's basses. Almost every gig I have done is the past 20 years I played that Jackson ... I love it !!

i like that one too, but im not crazy about the one volume knob, and the giant pickup switch thingy. other than that, she's purdy too

I suppose that is true about the switch. I like the p/hb and already have 2 bases set up that way
I just traded my beloved late '80's BC Rich custom shop T-bird for the three Jacksons at Rumble Seat...just didn't play the T-bird...found myself playing my '87 NT Concert all the time.
Figured that was a ton of money tied up to just sit and look good so I pulled the trigger...they should be here Friday or Monday...can't wait!!!
