I'd like a couple more but I know how you feel.
Those Sunn Coliseum and Concert amps John used wouldn't hurt either.
That guy is truly an inspiration! Absolutly love his style...it had the in your face punk feel...without the boring pumping 8ths and people screaming thier heads off about the government...oh wait...thats why we all love punk haha...anyway...has probably earned himself a place in history as rocks first and greatest bass man.....
I just watched the Thunderfingers documentary this weekend. One particularly interesting point was that in the later years, Entwistle's hearing had gotten so bad that he began relying on watching Townsend's playing rather than hearing him. If Townsend's hands weren't visible, Entwistle had a hard time following the changes, but once Townsend's hands were visible, Entwistle would be right on again.
yeah ..they were standing alright.....in fact pete and roger seemed to be making up for lost time.
so the guitar he smashed...well as far as i can remember it must have been a strat since that is what he seems to play these days...
i have always been dispointed in petes guitar selection of late....what the hell was wrong with the gibson les pauls...i loved his gigs where he had a number for each one emblazoned on the body....that would have smashed up so well.....the rick would have been the creme de la creme!!!
and les pauls sound better than strats for wont get fooled again.
saw him once with a black tele shecter...now that was very cool.
needless to say the ox stood by and looked on when all this smashing up nonsense took place...a couple of sips from the brandy tube prehaps....i honestly cant remember if he did...why do great gigs get so polarised in your long term memory!!

that is true talent. also something that can be very helpful for anyone to learn, especially if they are in a band. although John didnt have to work too hard, he knew what Pete did before he did it.

the worlds greatest understatement is that Les Pauls sound better for WGFA than a strat. in fact, Strats suck, Les Pauls ROCK.

Pete does not have back trouble, and obviously is deaf, because strats are ugly and are all around blleearfgh guitars.
The song isn't so much anti-governmental as a cynical look at political power and opportunism.... That's what makes the tune resonate and ring true.
I never saw the Who live, but John saw my band at a NAMM show in Chicago and was very gracious and complimentary. I thanked him profusely for all the great music and having such a great influence on my bass playing...I have a feeling he was very used to hearing that - probably a daily occurrance in his case.

he was very helpful and really loved his fans. proof is in the form of the may times that he stayed out in the rain for nine hours signing autographs.
Study John's right hand. Unless you attack the strings like he did you can buy every gadget ever made and you will never get there.
Watch the isolated bass clips that you can find on Youtube and pay attention to the right hand. Once you have that down you are 75% of the way to an Entwistle sound.
In fact as a test for a bass I hit the strings like he does on Eyesight to the Blind on Leeds, or Baba on the isolated bass and if it doesn't respond well enough, back on the rack it goes.

ill definetley do that. right now if i need to do a fast fingerstyle part i use my right hand in a tapping style that John showed off in his Hot Licks video, but im not good at it.

Geddy ruled the Rickenbacker, now he rules the Jazz Bass..
i think im getting scaringly close to getting down alot of John's style of playing.. im not up to speed at the "typewriting" but its clean when i do. when im playing the custom bass i showed earlier though, not with the P, i have it a bit lower.
