Honestly I just don't play 4 strings anymore except when i guilt myself into playing that signed P bass I bought new in the 70s. I'd love to have a status too... but I want a 5 string.

The fellow that maintains that site owns a status buzzard.

Oh and my great grandfather was a government official in Stavanger, Norway... close to you? I have been to Oslo before but its' been a while...

funny, i guilt myself into playing my 5.... the buzzards are great basses if you can find one that is not a warwick.

I love my Warwick Buzzard... its an outstanding bass. I will be changing the pickups to Bartolini's though, but I've done that on all my Carvin basses too. The electronics are a bit weak, I'll admit, but the bass sounds and plays excellent the only issue I have is it weighs about 90 pounds, or sure feels like it. ;)

I tried 5 for a year(and 3 months i owned it as my only bass) it had a great sound and everything, playability was exelent, but it simply wasnt for me.

Yeah, i have checked out that site, thanks ;) i would realy, realy love a Status Buzzard, but as far as i know, there wasnt many made of it, so my best bet is a warwick buzzard.. still have to wait until i turn rich, i wasnt that impressed by warwick that i will spend all my money on one :p the bolt on model however.. I wonder where that rumored "in the works" different Status Buzzard went away, i heard something about some plans for a new design..

Stavanger is about 30 - 45 minutes flight or 5 hours drive from here :p im in Bergen.

heavy basses are like heavy guitars. in most cases, they sound great.

Like I said, I like my 6 strings best... its all about what feels right in your two hands...

If you chat with Tim Harden on his buzzard bass site, he stays in touch with the owner of status. He says they have made their last buzzard... so I think you are right. They were already in the 7 to 8 thousand US dollar price range so the used ones will probably become ridiculously expensive.

I think Warwick may have stopped making them as well... so the buzzard's may be circling the buzzards.

Funny I know Norway is a large country, its a little like if you had asked me how nice it is to live near LA. In my case thats a 1:20 minute flight and a 7 hour drive. :)

I have started using some LED position markers on my basses. They aren't as cool as the ones on the status basses but they rock IMHO, I love them. You should check out the web site www.fretfx.com. It consists of a clear tape with the LED's layed out and a battery box that attaches to the backside of the headstock.

WEll, Status still make the Buzzard 2 (they call it B2, but if you see the one at sale on their site, it clearly says buzzard on the headstock.) And they wouldnt make a buzzard, it was more of a buzzardy style, i think it was a competition on the old status forum for the design..

i doubt warwick have stoped making them though, they are still on the site, and if they have, its nothing less than making the custom shop make a bolt on with whats now the stryker headstock.

I saw thoose leds, i found that it would be awsome on my custom bass, but im not sure of where i could place the battery.. (it doesnt have the biggest headstock)

I heard of a used Status Buzzard having a sale price on 20.000 Euro..

Why Warwick doesnt just make a Buzzard is beyond me and i know that it SUCKS. what is Warwicks phone number if i am in America? i want the number so i can talk to Hans Peter Wilfer. he designed the Buzzard with John, so that is a great source.
when i get another bass, i will probably do something where i save up until i have enough to get an Alembic that is in the T-Bird shape and has 2 sliding pups like on the old Gibson Grabbers.
