this was going to be my first concert at the garden. i was really looking foward to seeing the greatist bass player in the world. my dad walked in the door and i hadnt heard anything about it. he told me the new. i didnt beleive him. R.I.P John 
Yes it is true. The local news here in Vegas just mentioned it in passing. They are supposed to give more details on their 6pm (pacific) broadcast.

This is too sad! I as many people here, love his playing and this is truly a shock to me...
well, this might not be the best time, but I guess what they asked for in "My Generation" has sadly become true. two of them have died before they got old.

i already posted something but i was wondering how did john get that distortion sound out of his bass?
Early in his career, it was the sound of him overdriving all tube heads.(1960s-70s)
Later I belive he used a Digitech Artist effects processor, using chorus and distotion(1980s[?]-90s)
May he rest in peace.

Update: He was scheduled to do a sold out show with the Who at the Hard Rock tomorrow night here in Vegas. It appears he died in his sleep as he was found in bed not breathing and authorities were called. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Cause of death is pending an investigation and examination.

can't explain.... he was one of the most creative songwriters as well as a phenominal bassist... tomorrow night our practice session will be dedicated to his finest works.... best damn rhythmn section in heaven
