unlike some of the people here i had the fortune to see entwistle live and it was one of the most amazing things to ever happen to me. not to be disrespectful or anything but how much do you wanna bet that this gets less tv coverage than aliyah and left eye. a person who revolutionized the way we play bass in that genre compared to two people that didn't do anything for any kind of music.

Tonight's gig has an Ox dedication, and we will probably bust out with "My Generation" too. I would agree with several posts here in stating that one cannot be a rock player of any significance without paying homage to the Ox. I will wear my old '82 tour shirt and try not to cry onstage. I guess that God's great band in heaven needed a bassist to back up Elvis, Jim, Janis & Jimi. Note what has appeared at the bottom of my posts since I came to TB. Just listened to my old LP of "Too Late the Hero" a week ago too. We love you John.

There is not a signle word, nor combination or words that can even begin to explain how I feel. This man was the reason I picked up bass. I heard him and simply said "WOW". and ever since, my standard has been "oh, I have got to learn to keep pace with him"...and such things. And one of my life goals was just to meet him, if only for a breif moment, like shaking his hand, but now that day will never come. Sadness...lost,hopeless don't even begin to describe how I feel. I gotta go, this is just way to much to take, and I'm just waiting for myself to wake up...:( :( :( :(

Right after Keith Moon's passing John was getting sick of all the drummers coming out of the woodwork, pretending to be sympathetic, then asking if the Who needed another drummer. John's response was:

"Another drummer!?! We just managed to get rid of one".

That story is soooo John!!!

RIP John Alec. His inspirational playing with the Who was one of the reasons that I and countless others picked up the bass. A very sad day indeed. :(

I am more profoundly sad at this news than I have ever been at the passing of any other famous musician.

I am very thankful that I had the priveledge to see him play live on the 1989 "Tommy" tour.
