The headroom race is over as far as I can tell. Jule just dropped this lil' power amp:

That's 2500w rms into 4ohms I believe. Hypex based amp/power supply with more than enough juice so it won't run out of steam. Or as the man himself said "The Hypex Power Supply used in the M2500 has enough power to run 2 of these amps simultaneously. So it is just loafing along." Obviously this is optimized for the Monique but should kill with most any preamp.

What say y'all?

If I didn't just make a major purchase of non-bass-related life, I'd be handing Jule my dollars right now for a rack-mount version of this. And I would name it "Conekiller Speakerbane". My estimation is that this is about twice as powerful as my current power amp, the Peavey IPR2-3000.

I'm guessing Jule's watts are noticeably different. Much of what Jule does is.

Even I think this is overkill, but in a good way. I also hear that there will probably be an in-between model that's an RMS 1400w unit. We're so used these days to seeing amps quoted in the kilowatts range, but they're usually peak or burst...not very many for real 2500w amps in the world. I also believe that Jule can build this out as a rack or possibly an integrated Mo'.

*I should clarify that I mean in the consumer/bass world. There are obviously high powered PA amps...

Now, how many fEARfuls could you plug this thing into? ;)

Maybe, with this kind of power, you could get a bunch of car subwoofers from pawn shops for pretty cheap, and with some creative wiring and creative cabinet design you'd actually be able to get decent stage volumes with this kind of power.

So your measuring stick for what you do are the drunks in the back room? Not that I would ever have a need for a 2500w amp, or even 2000w, but if anyone ever catches me using the drunks in the back room as my measuring stick, you have my permission to kill me.

At this point, I don't think most care about the 'micro' but light certainly plays well with a lot of us. I use a double fEARful with my setup, but I know guys who have double 1515/66's and such. IIRC this also can comfortably run down to 2 ohms, so you could run 3x 4 ohm rigs should you need. I can't imagine that too many would need, but that's a lot of clean volume and headroom.

In terms of price, this seems to fit the ballpark of what Jule and many small boutique builders are doing. Low quantity hand built amps are not cheap. The M700 goes for $1375...I don't see anyone out there who's bought one (and a bunch of people have them) complaining about the price or what it can do. I would assume that the performance per dollar would still be commensurate.

Me too...that typical sentence, you know...the audience will not care if I...please stop.
if we assume this reason as valid as a general rule, better to close talkbass asap, because it would be meaningless. We could even play a flute or a triangle instead, much easier to handle and carry.

Nailed it. I could literally care less what my stage tone is....I can never hear it anyway and the sound guy is just needing a preamp signal anyway. . I think my amp is like 2000 watts or something rediculous, I use 1 channel On 1 side at 1/4 volume...but if buying expensive amps is your thing, go for it. To each his own.
