As much as I love Mo, a review article that lists the cons as "none" is a failure. I'm not saying there are many, or any that bother me, but "none" makes me raise an eyebrow at the reviewer.

The Bass Player reviews often list cons, but the cons are usually manufacturing/quality issues. That being said, I view 'reviews' like this as more 'demonstrations' than true evaluations. Nothing wrong with that as free marketing!

The best 'reviews' are actually on TB IMO, where no one works for the manufacturers or depends on advertising dollars, etc. , and you can start to get some critical mass of triers, owners, and most importantly, rejecters to post up.

The truth seems to emerge pretty well on most pieces of gear around here IMO!

still, to this date, and I've had my Monique a LONG time....the only con I can find (if you even want to call it a con) is the lack of a mute switch. Literally NOTHING about the sound or aesthetic leaves me wanting anything more....but having to remember to pull out the 1/4" from the Monique before I unplug my Fodera between soundcheck and showtime and then remembering to have to push it back in gets kind of annoying. A mute switch would literally make it the PERFECT piece of gear. Period. IMO of course....

I could see that. I used it with either use my Puma900, which has a mute switch, or my QSC poweramp, which has stepped volume attenuators, making it easy to return to the exact volume level. But yes, I agree, that would be a nice addition for most players.

It's not about the mute function to the cab, it's a mute function for the HOUSE. I could just turn off my Minnie in that case, but unplugging my bass will result in a massive POP throughout FOH. Soundmen don't like that....

maybe a 3 way switch on the front....or a push/pull mute DI output volume on the back....:)....what do you think, Jule?

I put a clothespin on my cord. That pinches off the electrons so no pop.

Any reason you don't just turn it off during that period between sound check and the gig. No power tubes, no big deal. Get a good true bypass pedal tuner with mute for during the gig stuff, and just turn the bass down between sets!

ehhh....I still like to keep it cooking from soundcheck to the gig. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like there's a difference in sound from when Monique first turns on, to several hours of being left on. Things just seem to get warmer. I realize there aren't any power tubes but it's just something I've noticed. Def not trying to get involved in any pedals....I just don't want to leave my Fodera plugged in for several hours before I go on, which is just a 1.5 hour show and we're out. A mute function to the DI would just be a purposeful mod IMO.

I have had a pair of those for over a year and they are great.

Only issue is that having the cord mute is a new thing to me and during the rush to set up, I have been caught scratching my head a couple of times wondering why the hell I can't get sound. Of course a minute later, I say "aaahhhhh" and hit the mute, but it can be a bit of a pain.

My TC tuner is generally my mute in any case, but the Planet Waves cables are rock solid and the mute does work quite well in the year I have used them.

Ususally the M-Box and related software isn't on when I run the Crown/cab, or vice versa. Each signal routing is dead silent. However, I recently fired up Logic while I had the Crown/cab running and as soon as the program opened, I got a high frequency hum through the cab (I think, though it could have been my playback speakers; they are close to each other). +1 in that a mute switch would be a good addition

Well, the Monique is what I'd consider 'stripped down'. Its well worth it because of how it sounds. But if you want a tuner out, a mute switch, a 'standby' or an effects loop, its probably not the unit for you.

I run a Polytune in front of mine to use as a mute switch (and to tune).
