I don't know if I'd use the word "reserved" -- it's pretty muscular in the lows to my ear -- but there isn't much of a bump in the lows with the 112 relative to a lot of cabs, for sure, and I do hear a slight rise in the mids-to-upper mids, so maybe we do hear it the same. I agree with you on the percussive aspect (the "effortless punch" you described) of the cab, I just localize it (Oof!) in a different part of the anatomy.
And, yeah, I can't say too much about the Baer or the BAs since I haven't heard them, so I appreciate your description of them. If they really do reach lower than my 112 (which, again, isn't the deepest of the MAS cabs, but is pretty deep) and manage to stay tight doing it, then they're formidable cabs. Were I in your neck of the woods, I'd love to swing by and hear them.
On the opposite end of the spectrum from the über-cabs, I tried playing Mo' yesterday through one of Duke LeJeune's little DIY 110s (this one loaded with a Deltalite II). Then, just for kicks, put the 110 on top of the 110 sub from my Flex. This was only apartment playing, but it sounded surprisingly decent both ways -- the little 110 was thumpy and very mid-present on its own (though a bit boxy and obviously did not reach very high or very deep) and integrated better with the sub than I expected it to -- I'm half tempted to gig it that way, just to see. Not surprisingly, the 110 sounded much bigger with the sub. Surprisingly, chords and harmonics actually worked fairly well -- fumbled my way through part of Portrait of Tracy and... the rig was not the limiting factor.I've said before that I sometimes wish Mo' had a little more extension/openness up top but, for all that, I still find that harmonics speak well and sound substantial with it. It's not a tweeter-dependent amp.
Yeah, I like that the EQ isn't fiddly. I don't have to steady my hand before I use it.
One of the things I really love about Mo are the highs. They are well balanced with my Dingwalls, which tend to have very clear highs. Mo seems to temper (warm?) them a bit, which really works for me.
Yup, the Genzlers (and the ML115) produce some incredibly deep, phat and tight lows I have no GAS for cabs or amps anymore, other than maybe a third Genzler, just because!! I also want to pick up a micro as a back-up, just in case. I had an Aggie Tonehammer and really like that little box. I sold it to get over a cashflow hump, but at some point I would like to reacquire one. I thought it was a bit power challenged into an 8 ohm load for a loud band, but now that I have a 4 ohm stack, I suspect it would work perfectly as a backup and light practice amp for me.
