Jule Amps Monique part 5

Thanks guys. The first set went well but the second set was fantastic tone wise and here's why.

I've been using HPF series 3 between my bass and Monique for a while now. I've been following the impedance comments on this thread as well concerning it.

So I used my hpf the first set as usual but I still noticed my sound seemed a bit over driven for my taste. Not distorted, just overmodulated a tad. I was happy with the tone but just wanted it to be a little clearer and warmer.

Well the second set I decided to remove the hpf and holy cow what a difference. I am shocked at the difference it made and really didn't think it would have made that much of a difference. Probably not as noticeable at low volumes, but at gig volumes there is a difference for how I set my gear. My tone was so much cleaner, clearer, and not overmodulated at all. It was exactly what I was looking for! Even my guitar player commented on how defined and clear my tone was that set.

I do love the hpf, but I loved the tone without it more. I do run my Fodera in active mode so I didn't think it would make much difference, but it did for me. I know I probably could have dialed down my pre on my Fodera a bit to compensate, but that really isn't an option for me because it's set optimally with the fx I use, so I don't want to make changes there. I'll continue to use my hpf, but only on my keyboard bass, not my Fodera.

I don't know if the Minnie is that much better than the crest pro lite, but I love the form factor and it really packs a wallop for such a light, small piece of gear.

I am stoked and loving the new setup!

I have the rack Monique+800D upgrade and am loving it. But I also have a Puma 900 and am definitely keeping that. Each has its place because each has its own lovely tone for particular applications. The Puma is more portable and is preferred when there is a venue with very tight space, or when I don't want the pure tube tone. I no longer need the Puma 500 as a backup so that's for sale on TB.

Most definitely. I love the Puma 900 and the tone and oomph it brings in such a small package. When I work weddings, I'm usually doing double duty (cocktail and reception), so I need to have two rigs on hand. I'm now using my puma primarily for cocktail hour and rehearsals with my band.

I also like using the puma for silent practicing at home since it has an aux in as well.

My 900 stays in the car as backup. Every once in awhile if I really need to travel light/fast I'll leave Monique at home and just use the Puma. That said. For the times I really need to be quick, I take a QSC K10, my bass, and a cable. But tone suffers a bit.

Hey, meant to post up before this. Your TED thing was fun. Very creative way of talking about that general topic. dug the whole concept and execution, playing, singing, graphics, etc. You had a nice crowd also. Total win!

Monique does TEDx. She gets her closeup at 13:20 of the video.

First, I am moved to be a part of your creativity and certainly of your TEDx experience. Wonderful.

Warning! What follows is only marginally about Bass:

The points of your talk are mental parts of almost every day for me. For more than a decade (while designing and building tube gear on the back burner) I worked as a UNIX Kernel Internals consultant, SUN, SCO, Cisco, Borland. My expertise ended up being threads and synchronization. Everything was about timing, digital edges, process and thread optimization and conflict resolution. At that level all those ones and zeroes had to be visualized as a continuum, much like music. I often wondered why it was such a mystery to others.

Now I live in this world with much more subtle edges, but I still think of it all as threads and processes that end up making music. It's just that now they are continuous.

I'm having a lot more fun now.

Yes sir.

Let's just say that my guitarists now think twice before sneaking over to their amps to turn up. They are well aware that I will win that little game.:bassist:

Get 'em. Some day I'd like to hear the Monique rig you have along with your guitarist on a 100 watt Praxis. I think it could out do "Dark Side of the Moon." :)

Just a head's up from a customer.

The ground lift toggle switch on the back of the Rack Mount and Tardis Monique will have a very short (1/4") toggle on it from now on.

This is because a customer had the switch on his Rack Mount De-Monique break because it got jammed in too far while being transported in an attache case. If carried in a normal rack enclosure it isn't possible to damage the switch with the long toggle, but it is good to be aware that it can happen when carried in other enclosures.

The shorter toggle should take care of it in all cases.

Wow ! Monique and Demeter VTHF 300 is it THE rig which I shall really like trying. I shall not buy the Demeter VTHF 300 because I don't need 300 watts tube power , but I shall like when to hear it with Monique just once in my life.
