Spent most of the day playing the (all tube) Simone II Pedal Preamp. It lives! Ready for NAMM.

Final chassis aesthetics will happen after NAMM, but it will be there in the Kalium Strings booth on the floor to play. I will also have a headphone amp there so we can directly test the DI out without the interfering din that is NAMM. For those of us already familiar with the DI out of Monique there will be no surprises - it uses the same Cinemag Transformer.

Yes, I'm crying. No, I'm not sad, those are tears of JOY! I had a Noble, for a couple of weeks anyway. I really liked it. Had an unexpected car repair come up, and I had to sell it. I wasn't sad, because the whole time I had that Noble, I kept thinking "Jule's gonna have a pedal-sized magic box anytime now, and that's the one I really want!"

Any pre-NAMM sneak peeks available at all?

Yes. Although the final product will have a nice little cage where the four tubes live, it does have the same look as the 500 watt black box. Didn't have time to get the cage complete prior to NAMM.

It will be interesting to see how versatile this Simone Pre Amp is. Right now, there is no focus on a small Simone and 500 watt head, but it can be done.

The most important thing right now is to make sure each of these new "bits" perform as we all want.

The pedal box is going to change immediately after NAMM. I have met with the metal-folk (KC Sheet Metal) and they are ready to make the small cage that protects the tubes (and displays them nicely). As usual, I am the slow bit in the process. They, KC Sheet Metal, are ready. That said, I am sure there will be plenty of live pics from NAMM.

And a question... What do the two footswitches (feetswitches?) do?

On the 500 watt you have Mute and Standby.

Long ago I had the good fortune to slowly wander a good hunk of Ireland. A highlight you may appreciate was standing on the Ramparts of Bunratty Castle (between Limerick and Ennis) and shouting the "... Fart in your general direction..." diatribe to the wind. Alas, I now suspect I am not the only one to have done so.

Thanks Jule, I appreciate it. I've been laying low for January, but we're hitting Feburary strong with 13 shows booked...and that's with me taking the last week off for the rescheduled surgery.

...still have a package to get out to the two of you...sitting waiting form me to be productive. : )

Good luck in the trenches of NAMM. I wish you well and hope you come back with all your limbs intact.

I'm going to put this out here for the Monique hivemind for anyone who's got any ideas. I seem to have dirty-contact input/output problems more often than not these days. I can always give the jack a twist or two or plug-unplug a few times...but is there a better solution? I've got some Deoxit D5 that I've used here and there in the past. and this week I'll go in and pull the Mo from the rack and give the 1/4" contacts a once over...better solutions?

This is probably since my rack spends lots of time in the back of a van or car and/or in transit back and forth to shows...so environmentally hostile at anywhere from sub-zero to 100 degrees and varying humidity.

I've had both 'traditional' patch cables and 'gold' connectors seems to be the same.

Try DeOXIT gold instead of the red. I like the felt pen applicator best if contacts are readily accessible.

I never feel comfortable spraying any of this stuff in the inputs so I've always done a q-tip dipped then work the contacts. So I think we're on the same page with that.

No. These are 6AK5 Pentodes, and of course there is no Tube Rectifier since it runs on a 9 volt input. Tubes are running at 130 volts.
