Jule Amps Monique part 5

Might be dirt, and it might be the cable. Some cables are different diameters, which don't quite mate up with the input jack, but you seem to have eliminated that. As the point of entry, those jacks take quite a beating. Deoxit and such won't hurt. The oil is nonconductive.

Upon occasion the jack may need a bit of mechanical tweaking. Very common job in service shops.

Again. . . long ago. . . when some of the planes came back with salt water damage (yes, they flew that low) we would immerse the relay boards in light machine oil (WD40) and then drain the oil off and put them back up in the air. So I don't think light oil will hurt.

I wonder if something like a padded cover for your rack (not that you need it to be heavier, or need more stuff to carry) would help with temperature changes. Having traveled with a cello before, I've covered it inside its hard case (and, when I flew, put the hard case in a padded "overcoat"). The pegs can still slip (though less often) and winter travel is still stressful for the instrument -- but having some insulation means that the temperature changes are slower. Condensation would be less likely, too, I think. You could put the cover between your rack and cabs while playing and get some vibration reduction, too.

Just a thought.

Good thought, and I'll try anything once. I wonder if maybe something to control humidity so it doesn't condense on the inputs or something. It doesn't happen with the speakons or the powercon...I'm almost of the mind that those kind of connections to go between preamp and poweramp would be worthwhile, then it's just messing with the input on the preamp.

I did pull my rack apart today and followed the DeOXIT Gold directions, they say to use the D5 first then treat with the Gold. And while I don't think there's anything wrong with any of the cables I had, I did replace the pre/power cable with a mogami with eminence gold connectors to see if that makes things better.

I just remembered that the venerable WD40 originally stood for Water Displacement 40.

I'll let you know. February will be a test. We're doing 13 shows in the first couple weeks, and it's cold outside but hot and humid in the clubs...

Here is another page opened in the story. Ready for NAMM Show this week in Anaheim. Final enclosure and such for the tubes has not been completed in time for the show, but it won't be long.

Yes. Tubes will be recessed 1/2", surrounded by rubber and protected by an extremely sturdy cage. We are talking strong enough to be stood upon.

That looks gorgeous as is! Tube protection is a good thing though. Can’t wait to hear it, well done, sir!

My friend Paul Sips from the The Netherlands came by on his way to the NAMM Show and we powered it up. Cool part is that he heard something I had missed. (Fixed already) I am very grateful for my good friends who can tell the difference.

Not really. Different tubes require different methods of getting there. But the objective is to be pleasing - so that's the same as Monique. Surfaced a bit of Monique that is normally hidden. Calling it "Drive" for now, but it is a tube drive that in this case is adjustable (fixed in Monique) . In Monique I have it pulled down so there is no way to get into ugly, but this changes things. Jury is still out. May end up calling it the "ugly" knob. :)

Jules, congratulations on producing another product. We all hope for and expect great things from you!

I am intrigued by this hidden drive feature in Monique. Is it possible to modify or upgrade Monique to utilise this? A Dirty Monique? (Didn't want to say Ugly Monique)
