I went on a 3 year journey looking for the right amplification. I brought almost every major amp into my rehearsal space, gigs, and studio.

Some notable exceptions are Vanderkley and maybe a few others.

I had the Berg B|Amp and thought the Trickfish had a slight edge. Relpaced the Trickfish with a Mesa Subway D800+ for the same reason.

Currently have the D800+ and the WD800 because they both have a subtle difference. These + 3 others have been my go to.

The WD800 is nice, but adding the Monique to the power section enhances it.

I don't think the Jule will replace the Mesa. I don't think the the Jule is designed to sculpt your tone to the point where yo uh can bring out tones that aren't inherently in your instrument.

For example, I have a bass that is distinctly missing 300Khz. I can dial that in with a 12db boost on the WD800 because when I use that head, I think that is what it needs to sound pleasing to me ear.

When I play the Jule, it just sounds right.

The EQ points on the Trickfish assume you are either playing a Jazz bass or a Precision (IMHO). For example, 40Hz bump is very Precision oriented while 80Hz bump is very Jazz bass.

I can get to those EQ points on the Mesa as well as others that I may need.

Sonically, I could dial in the Trickfish sound, but could not always dial in Mesa with the Trickfish.

The Deep switch is also good for late night practicing at lower volumes.

As with all things, your mileage may vary.

Dimensions: 7.38" x 7.38" x 2.48" (187 x 187 x 63 mm). Designed around the 1590F from Hammond.

Just checking and and great to see the Jule excitement is still going strong.

Just realized that I am coming up on 7 years with my Monique Dove Cage and can honestly say that haven’t even considered buying another amp/pre. Haven’t even played thru another amp unless provided for backline.

My Jule Paycheck guitar amp is still my #1 as well when I screw around with the guitar.

Thank you my friend. Time does keep moving on. As it does, I feel more strongly that this music stuff we are involved in is ever more important. And I am very grateful to be a part.

It is true that in the mechanical design phase of decent gear, one does consider the potential for beverage flow.

• Frenzel Tube Preamp - hand made in Texas. Produced Fender and Mesa tones
• Taurus Qube 450 - hand made in Poland
• Warwick LWA 1000
• Positive Grid Bias Mini Bass Head (Also does guitar)
• Jule Monique/Jule M500
• Mesa Subway D800+
• Mesa Subway WD 800

Left to right - the cabs

• Trace Elliot 1x8 - Generally my go to to take to rehearsals
• Warwick WCA 115 LW - because sometimes, you need a 15 for that extra bottom
• Acoustic 410C - perfectly paired with the Bias... it’s low fidelity, so it removes the digital harshness from the Bias and makes it much more warm
• Bergantino HDN 112
• Trickfish SM112

I compared the Jule to both Mesa’s playing through the Bergantino and Trickfish. Sadly, the Mesa sounds thin compared to the Jule. I can boost the Mesa to sound more like the Jule, but it sounds boosted. The Jule never sounds boosted, and always seems like it has more power to spare.

Looks like 2 Mesas, 2 Trickfish cabs, and a Warwick rig are going up for sale.

The Bias doubles as a guitar rig, and the practice rig will stay.

Has anyone compared the m500 or m700 to PA power amps? I run a Crest Power Lite 2.0 bridged, so I’m not wanting for headroom or wattage but I’ve been so pleased with the Monique that I’m curious about the power amps.

I had the same Crest amp you have (plus a Crown xls2502 and Jule M2500 at the same time...) A/b/c’d with two preamps (Monique and Warwick Hellborg) and found a noticeable improvement, in favor of the M2500. I was trying NOT to compare the “Ferrari quickness” or volume differences that the M2500 provides (like no other amp I’ve used)...but rather any effect on my bass tone—admittedly hard to isolate.

I’m not the best with articulate descriptions, but the M2500 was much smoother, highs less harsh to my ears, similar to using a touch of LP filtering. It convinced me to stopped using PA amps. Someone with more technical expertise could explain why, but my ears did hear a difference...

Never demo’d a M700/M500, but I’d venture a guess there’s something about the Hyoex that would yield the same result (vs PA amps) for me, no matter the power level...

It took about 5 minutes (maybe) to dethrone my Thunderfunk. I now get what all the talk about it being 'fast' is all about. My Acme cabs haven't sung like this in years!

I did have a Dovecage & Minnie setup and it never quite gelled with me. I don't know if it was the amp or the pre, but I shouldn't have sold them. Oh well. It got me here, to this M700, so it's all good.

Now I'm looking at preamps and gassing for a Monique...

I’ve been admiring Monique from afar, and following this thread, since 2010. Last week a used Monique became available locally and I finally succumbed to her charms. So far I’ve been playing her through an IP112ER at home. I will try her through an IP310 this weekend. My opinion - Fantastic. At some point I’ll A/B Monique/IP112ER and SA200/HT112ER. I think you’ll all agree that this particular Monique is dressed to kill...

That’s a gorgeous Monique! I use to play my Monique Bird Cage through an IP112ER, sometimes with an HT112ER added. Sonic bliss! Don’t know why I ever moved away from that, but I did recently reacquire a Monique and am so glad I did.

I've used a Jule M700 with a Noble preamp and an Avalon U5. Sounds great with both of them.

I have an M2500 and have used the following preamps:

- Monique
- Noble
- Wayne Jones Audio
- Warwick LWA100 (preamp only)
- Grace Design Felix

All different flavors of great IMHO. I've tried to list them in order from "Fattest" to "Cleanest" sounding to my ears. Of course, YMMV...
