Looks absolutely amazing! I think you made the right choice in protecting the tubes by having them recessed into the unit. It'll also mean less risk of heat for the fingers.

Often a question. I get confused myself.

All of these are good at 2 ohms. In the M700 and M2500, I recommend using the fan at 2 ohms.

M500
550 watts @ 2 ohms
700 watts @ 4 ohms
400 watts @ 8 ohms

Simone 500 Block Amp - This is not the same amp used in the M500 - A different color horse
400 watts @ 2 ohms
500 watts @ 4 ohms
270 watts @ 8 ohms

M700
1200 watts @ 2 ohms. . . yup. A beast
700 watts @ 4 ohms
440 watts @ 8 ohms

M2500 - Yes. Multiples of these can be stacked - if 2500 isn't enough.
2000 watts @ 2 ohms
2500 watts @ 4 ohms
1600 watts @ 8 ohms

These tubes don't put off enough heat to be at all uncomfortable. Even in Monique, the only tube that gets too hot to touch is the Rectifier Tube (far left).

Does anyone know how to get a Fender type of a wooly tone from the Jule? I can't seem to quite squeeze the same type of wooly tone out of my Jule.

While I don't mind using my other Tube Pre, I would love to manage this if possible.

Earlier today, I was finishing up testing on a Dove Cage that is heading to Denmark. This was just the final re-test before it went into the box. I didn't even look at the knobs. Just plugged it in and send it through my test amp. A bit aggressive, so I put on the headphones (again... too lazy to look at the knobs yet) and listened through my balanced headphone amp. Still aggressive.

Knob time... The mid was about 3 o'clock. Line Level pulled out, rolled to about noon. Sensitivity pulled out and maxed. That was what I would call "wooly." Give that a try and let us know if that is the direction you want to be, please.

First batch, the entire batch, were built with about 2" more height than specified. An attempt was made to re-model those. It failed. A new, new batch is now back in production. Production from this point is usually about a week.

THAT is the tone I was searching for! I bumped the bass up to about 2 o'clock and got that super fat vintage Precision tone that I was looking for!

Though I went through this entire thread, I don't remember seeing anything about pricing for either the pedal pre or the Simone power amp. Prices if you have them or do you have a range? FWIW, add me to the list for both. I've already made space on my pedal board.

Also, in your pic of the pedal above and if I count right, I see seven (7) knobs. If I count right on the Dovecage version of the Monique, I count six (6) knobs. Did you break out the pull version of the Sensitivity control to a separate control and if not, what's the seventh knob/control?

Finally, I see two foot switches - what are their functions? I could envision one being a mute on/off and the other an on/bypass, but I do look forward to your clarification.

BTW, how's the weather in Santa Cruz? ~30 years ago I used to live just over the hill from Half Moon Bay and up to ~5 years ago I was in San Jose monthly. Sort of miss my drives down to visit the boardwalk. Santa Cruz is a terrific town!

Hi John.

Santa Cruz is still pretty cool. Surf is still good. A few billionaires. Too many millionaires. Lots of heroin. Boardwalk hasn't changed much. Sadly the ferris wheel at the South end was taken out a few months ago. Something more modern there now that I will protest forever. We abandoned L.A. in '83 to come up here. Different town then. Remember "Right Livelihood Pizza?"

Today is a normal summer day for Santa Cruz, foggy overcast, with the sun only threatening to make it through. You remember from Half Moon bay, that it is only the tourists in summer clothes.

As to power, I'm hoping to stay with 9vdc negative center with 2000mls of current. Same voltage as other pedals, but more current. That is what we showed at the NAMM Show. Folks liked it.

Please let me confirm the chassis costs and graphics - and a few other details before I start setting the price and asking for money. Thank you for your support.

Knobs: Same as Monique (Sensitivity is now a switch called boost and a knob rather than one push/pull knob) with the addition of a "Drive" control. Drive Control is kinda cool addition to this on-the-floor world. Monique has always been and will continue to be about reproducing your instrument and your gifts in the most musical way possible. Simone has the same focus, but with an additional ability to deliver a bit more aggression to the picture. Some call it a modern tone, some might call it gain. We'll have to wait and see what folks here decide to call it.

Footswitches: Two of them. At NAMM we showed a "boost" and a "mute." Comments from bravehearts who have played these ugly prototypes since NAMM suggest that "bypass" may be more important than "mute." Easily configured either way once the decision is made. There is of course a "mute" on the S500 amp.

S500 seems to be the best name for the companion 500 watt pedalish amp to accompany Simone. Those chassis are also in metal fabrication right now. It is a well established product because I've used this same Hypex amp for a while now. This, the S500 is a much smaller, sturdier, package. Waiting on the same details to confirm the pricing for the S500 too.

Thinking of renting a cement mixer to do a S500 vid. Hook the S500 up with longer cables, play it, and let it bounce around inside while the mixer runs. That ought to get the "sturdy" idea across.
