Just Ordered a Gold Foil Jazz directly from Fender

Congratulations on getting a cool bass.

I’m still wondering about the pickup though. Fender says it’s a single coil. Retailers say it’s a humbucker. Can you please give us the definitive answer?

It's so funny how tastes change over time. For years, I was only into Jazz and Super Jazz instruments. All I own now are instruments that are "P" like. The woodier the sound the better. I have a G&L L2000 with dead flats, that sounds INCREDIBLE with the neck pickup single coil mode selected (K Mod for any G&L nerds). It sounds like a more defined 60s P. So, yeah.. that's the sound I'm after. Plus this bass looks so damn cool!!

Hear me out:

Fender Rascal Bass but with 3 Gold Foil pickups, strat style switching, push/pull for the extra sounds. Or maybe I'd just prefer the Jazz body with the Rascal style electronics w/ Gold Foils.

I've never ordered anything directly from Fender.. so we'll see how this goes. Should have it in hand in at most 7 days or so. Updates to come..

Looks like a Rickenbacker pickup there. From the video above, it sure doesn't sound like one though.

If that pickup is a humbucker it's a winner, I can't handle single coil hum in my house. Could also use a B string for me...and a roasted neck and body............
