So was John Entwistle.
Yeah, that may be, but he always fitted in more, i still think matt freemans lines often stick out too much like a sore thumb, i like rancid, they used to be one of my favourite bands, but the bass playing is one of the things that threw me off them, aswell as the last album ( the 2 self titled albums are my favourite by far)

Hyena is still one of my fave riffs tho, and journey to the end of the east bay is good too, its just i think he should dim it down a bit, fit more with the rest of the music

Listen to any Transplants song, those are all Matt Freeman on bass and I have yet to hear a bass solo on one. When I first started playing bass I liked some stuff by greenday, mostly dookie stuff, and mike has some cool riffs on that cd but I've always loved op ivy/rancid's vibe and Matt is just another reason to buy their music. Matt taught me how to play good punk bass. Personally new greenday I rather not listen too but thats just me.

It depends on your definition of good . . .

I know matt played on most of the transplants stuff, yeah, i shows he doesnt have to show off, why does he have to do it on so many of the rancid cd's?

I've always been a HUGE fan of Brian Kienlen! and I'm glad someone mentioned Mike Watt & Daryl Jennifer before I lost my sense of reality! Freeman obviously kills it like few other can, but what about showing some love for Harley Flanagan... the man's an animal!
