I l aways thought that the Deluxe versions equaled a Maple Fretboard, but according to another source they're referring to my bass as a deluxe because the top looks to be quilted maple even though the FB is Rosewood. Please enlighten me.

Yeah, Lakland hasn't offered the -01s in cherry burst (great finish) in at least a couple years.

Hey Randy, did you get my PM?

And, YES I like the guard for Doude's teal bass... very NICE! But, question: Will the pot's posts be too short after extending thru the body wood AND a pickguard?

I guess not... cause it somehow worked on Gus' silver modded 55-01.

My pots are not the original Lakland ones. I put stacked pots on the 55-01-57-Phantom thing.

He can always just gouge out around the hole on the top it with a screw driver or hammer and chisel. Maybe he has an old drill bit or some vice grips laying around... :hiding:

After much experimentation I have found that the only sound I can't nail to my liking is a P-Bass sound. It gets close, but not close enough. I can live with it for a gig of course, but it looks like I'm going to have to add a Glaub to my arsenal at some point to really get that P sound I need/want. My favorite setting outside of the full-on both-pickup sound is splitting the MM pickup to the front coil, panning to about 1 or 2 o'clock (if looking at the bass directly), and boosting the treble and bass to taste. It gets close to my 44-01 sound that I love, but with a lot more girth and power. Heaven! Anyway, since I'm having GAS pains lately I thought I'd share my story of 'rediscovering' my 44-02 all over again. I was seriously thinking about trading it for a Glaub for a hot minute but then realized how much else I'd be missing out on.

Since posting the above, I took my 55-01 to my bass tech. With the combination of working with the height adjustment screws and some side to side "encouragement," the bridge is now perfect! :hyper:

Before my gig last night and before I took my 55-01 to my bass tech, I sent an e-mail to Leo at Lakland. When I arrived home from the gig I found a response from Leo. I was very impressed with the quick response. I was glad to respond back that my "concern" had been taken care of.

J: "No just going to enjoy them all"

J: " they were - um "donated" by a down on his luck American who's dollar is shrinking"

Agent: "Well in that case...carry on!"
