That little module thing (inside the rear cavity) that requires a tiny flathead screwdriver to adjust used to be (in my stolen '02 55-94 with Barts) preset midrange frequencies...not sure what they're set at but it allows me to adjust that special honk/growl that can sometimes be hard to find...

I'm sure there are black chrome screws out there. yes? I know I can find flat black. I'd like the black pickguard on my JB5 to not have the "rivet" look.
Brand New 55-60 in Trans White. This is one of those basses that looks like a normal, classic bass, but when you get up close, you see all the cool trans-ocity and see-thru-itude.
I have a LOG, a 55-94, a trans-white 55-60 and a Chi'd up Custom. This pretty much wraps up bass acquisition for me. For now.

Grateful I don't know if you've already done it somewhere but if you could put up picks of all your basses we'd all love to see them.
My internal gain control is also set all the way up and my bass isn't overly loud. It's about as loud as my other active basses.

And, I didn't get to mess around inside my 55-94 today, had to disassemble my stingray so I can ship off the body in the morning for a refin.
But, I remember my gain adjuster was pointed at what appeared to be the highest setting... around 11 o'clock.

Well, I don't want to be "that" guy, but just dumped my Skyline 44-64 in part trade for a Fender 60's Classic Jazz. I know it's apples to oranges but I'm really sorry I was dismayed and swayed by all the positive hype surrounding these. Perhaps quality is on a downturn since the Indonesian shift but I have never been so unhappy with a bass. I spent more money on this axe than I ever have for an instrument and it gave me more problems than any of the 20 or so basses I've owned in my life put together. I hate to be a party pooper but it was in large part due to all the positive reviews here that I chose it over a Fender. I know to paint the brand as bad because of a lemon isn't fair but I'll never go with a Skyline again. It just really amazes me the price I paid for this bass and there is literally nothing quality wise that distinguishes it from a run of the mill MIM. It wasn't fun while it lasted. I still want to check out some US models though.
Wow. That's rough. Is yours Indonesian? I totally loved my 55-02d until this wierd thing happened with the preamp. And when the preamp is fixed I fully expect to love it again. But mine is Korean. Maybe that makes a difference.

I've been on this thread for years, and I don't think any of us have ever hesitated to tell all the hits AND misses with Skyline (Korean or Indo) and US Laklands. My reviews have been honest, even when I've encountered a twisted neck which was replaced for FREE.
If you spent a lot on it, it must've been new, and you could have gotten a full refund.
Nope, it's never "fun" dealing with a "lemon". Sorry your experience w/Lakland was so unsatisfactory. Lakland has a good rep for a reason, but not everything will go perfect all of the time. It's just unfortunate that it had to be with YOUR bass. People suggested you go for a Lakland Skyline, because they ARE very nice, quality basses. Glad you can now move on.
