We're attracted to beautiful basses!
I *was* a designer for about 15 years before I switched into words. Does that count?

Well I think my LOG p-bass was finished post sale and it was amazing. No flaws in the finish or materials that I noticed. The service and speed of getting answers is just as quick as it ever was. I too would be interested in other peoples thoughts but the guys at Lakland and Hanson have all ways been good to me.

I have my two USA Lakies (1 Skyline DD as well) and I love them. Also, I do not want to start a war nor am I looking to start any arguments. I am just looking for an answer from other Lakland people.
Like I said, I am a VERY PROUD Lakland owner. I have been out of playing for about the last almost 11 months now. This info came from some former endorsees and dealers (dealers both current and former), these are not just speculations by your regular Joe Blow nay sayer.
Again, I hope I am not re-hashing an old subject or a sore one at that, just curious as it has been bugging me for months...
Skyline DD, '09 USA DD (I am not happy about the TGM Skyline run!), '98 USA JO
A lot of guys would say that the Skylines are second to none. I say try before you buy. Enough of us have had issues that not trying first would be a mistake. I'd say that the vast majority are pretty freakin' good, though.

Skylines coming out under the new ownership with issues are no not more or less than what was coming out when Dan had the company at this point.
The new ownership gets the Skylines series from the same place they were before they took over ownership.
I can't think of no bass company that at some point, has not put out a less than stellar product from time to time. And I'm talking in every price range on the market.

I have been looking around and really don't know the best place to pick one up. i have found a limited edition trans blue one at two different shops online(basscentral & bassclubchicago) I am also wondering about these limited editions (does that mean fewer than maybe 100 made in this color) And are all these newer skylines PLEKED

I live pretty close to the Lakland shop, I get over there every couple months or so. I've talked a good bit to John and Bo and have a lot of confidence in them. I've also had the opportunity to play a fair number of Skylines and a couple US basses produced since they took over. I haven't noticed a decline in quality at all. I have heard probably a slightly higher percentage of issues reported among the Skylines over the past year, but I don't know for sure. Haven't heard of any real issues on the US side.I would go for a US model, just not sure if I want to buy new or used?
